Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to upgrade their weapons and gear with new affixes, increasing the base stats of the item or providing additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player has to have it in their inventory as well as access to the kiln.
Items with weak bases, like rings can be upgraded to more robust bases. Items with bases that are strong, such as the Titans of eth have little change in their stats.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, weapons and gathering tools. They give you an attribute bonus or an additional benefit, while the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, or found as loot by enemies, or received from missions and chests. Certain upgrades can also be equipped with special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.
To upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the user must select it and then click on the Upgrade button located in the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen showing what the expected upgrade stats will be as well as the necessary material or component needed to make that happen.
There are three types that are universal upgrades (which include gems) Prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, such as gems, can be used on any kind of equipment. They offer a lower bonus than upgrade components that have a type restriction. Infusions, which can only be placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are similar to jewels but provide larger bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other kind of equipment. Suffix upgrades that can be put in gathering tools, add their names to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for example adding a Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would make it a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the case of upgrades for gathering tools, if a player replaces one glyph by another, the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component will damage it, with the exception of the inscriptions that can be swapped.
Leveling
Path of Exile's upgrade system is different from the previous versions in a few fundamental ways. Gear is now classified into tracks and each item upgrader kit can be upgraded so many times before it's "leveled out." The cost for upgrades increases with each level up however, the materials needed do not increase as much. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a couple of key items and maximize their impact instead of spreading the upgrade costs across multiple pieces.
This will enable the item to receive new upgrade components and a greater chance of success. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy and it resets to 0 after failure or increases if the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece is upgraded to its maximum level it can be eligible to receive affixes that will increase its features. The number of affixes available depends on the type of item it is. For instance the rare or exclusive weapon with a base that is normal will have only two affixes for it and a legendary armor will have up to eight affixes available for it.
Each upgrade will require an amount of Flightstones and crests to complete, depending on the item's current level and the slot it's in. Weapons usually require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item fails to attain its maximum level, the NPC offers the player the choice to transfer it to a new character and re-infuse the item with a different set of upgrades. This process can take between one and two hours, and costs the same amount of materials. However, it has a lower success rate.
Engineers employ a level to compare the height of the building against a known point, such as the benchmark. This is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings using the level and backsight rod and then turning the level to make the foresight rod reading. This method helps ensure that buildings are built to a high level of safety and accuracy.
Rerolling
Rerolling refers to the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is a vital aspect of the game and can dramatically enhance an item's strength, damage, or other characteristics. This can be done through the item menu or by pressing the Reroll button of an upgraded Best item upgrade. Rerolling items can be expensive and should be used sparingly.
The game lets players recycle upgraded items, and use them to acquire Reroll tokens. These tokens can then be used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another item of the same type. Recyclable items have an indicator that indicates the level of upgrade. The rarity and the cost of upgrading an item will determine the amount of level filled.
Prior to this, some upgrades were given priority affixes which made them more accessible for players to roll. This meant that you'd be able to get the stats that were important most to your build often than other items. This included stats such as the armor's total armour, thorns, and control impaired duration reduced stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.
This has changed since the most recent patch. Priority affixes were removed and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling each statistic. This could be a positive or a negative thing dependent on your needs and wants from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can also have a unique bonus that boosts the power of the item by a fixed percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are rolled in addition to the standard affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the greater the chance of receiving the bonus of your choice.
The game also has a number set that grants an extra bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are equipped on an Best item upgrade. This is a great method of giving the character more power without spending a lot of money.
Many players have the habit of rerolling their weapons and gear, especially in the early stages. This is because rerolling can offer a quicker route to becoming a strong character and allows them to climb high tiers and progress the game more quickly.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be set up differently. They can be different sizes, have no elements, or only contain one element. They can be utilized to organize data or sort information. They also aid in analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in various ways in terms of size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers an array of set items that can be upgraded. Certain items are worth upgrading, while some aren't. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets that offer high defense values and set bonuses. Weapon upgrades are not as effective in boosting stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if you have many armor or weapons already.
Set items can be upgraded to include unique functions that are beneficial for certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are a good example of this. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms as well as Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements were also increased).
Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them up to parity with their tiers. For instance, the Immortal King set has a vast range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can increase their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.
To determine if an item is worth upgrading, players must click the Upgrade button in the screen for their character. The attributes of the item will be displayed as well as any necessary items. To upgrade the No-mouth face for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, along with 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the upgrade requirements for specific items.
In general the jewelry and weapons have better trade value when fully upgraded than armor. Particularly, for weapons that feature spell/weapon damage glyphs upgrading them to gold is recommended since it will give a substantial increase in their power. This will also boost the defense value of armor that has a newer appearance.
