GreenPower Motor Company produces a full suite of high-floor and green mobility scooter low-floor all-electric medium and heavy-duty vehicles. The EV Star Cab & Chassis is their flagship vehicle, and can be adapted to suit a wide range of applications. The design of the platform is based on a clean paper sheet, which allows for optimum positioning of the battery pack and a lower center of gravity. This results in higher payload/range ratios.

The EV Star REEFERX is designed to meet the needs of mid-to-last mile refrigerated delivery and catering. The class 4 refrigerated trucks with a single wall structure inside and higher insulation than traditional trucks, allow for green mobility scooter seamless sanitation and better temperature control. They also have a longer lifespan. The EV Star REEFERX offers superior capacity for cargo and a top payload to range ratio for zero emission passenger transport and goods.

GreenPower joined forces with Perrone Robotics in order to equip the EV Star with TONY (To navigate you) autonomous vehicle systems. This will enable fleets to easily make the transition to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star can also be wirelessly charging up to 75 kW.

We had the chance to test drive the EV9 for several hours on a local freeway and found it to be easy to drive and comfortable for long distances. The ride is smooth on bumps and ruts, and the EV9 is a master of suppressing the sound of traffic and wind on the highway. The acceleration is surprisingly fast and the car has adjustable regenerative braking to enable "one pedal driving" by taking off the accelerator.

The EV9 provides a large range and Greenpower scooter can be recharged in three hours or less at home, or with any commercial charger. The driver has the option of choosing between two operating modes: eco mode and sport mode. The eco mode prioritizes the torque and cruise control while the sport mode maximizes speed and handling. Both modes are fun to drive and provide an experience unlike any other for those who haven't driven an electrical vehicle before.

In addition to the EV9, GreenPower has several other e-vehicles available, including a multi-purpose electric minibus called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA compliant and can be used as an executive shuttle, transit or micro-transit vanpool, bus or a paratransit vehicle.

GreenPower produces about 10 EV Star busses a month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority. The Jacksonville Transit Authority is replacing their older diesel vehicles fleet with 100 electric vehicles. GreenPower will increase production to meet the needs of the Biden Administration which wants to electrify all school buses in America. Their EV Star buses are the first of their kind to be Altoona tested and green mobility Scooter FMVSS certified. They are Buy America compliant, and ADA certified. This means they will be eligible for federal assistance in transit. Check back as we follow the AV Star on its demonstration tour later this year. We'll be sure to provide more information on this innovative EV!
