Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum can keep your floors clean enough to cut down on the frequency of hoovering manually. Choose a robot vacuum with good navigation, can clean stairs and corners, and that has large bins that only needs to be emptied periodically.
There are also models that mop and charge on their own, a feature that may be important for people with pets or kids. Many of the best performers in our tests have great obstacle avoidance.
1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO and its sibling, the i3 EVO, are identical robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ a good option for those who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but don't mind manually emptying their robot's dustbin when it fills up.
Both robots do well picking up surface debris off carpets and hard floors, and they're very adept at maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart maps of your home to assist the i3+ to navigate and clean efficiently. The i3+ doesn't feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or any other top-rated robots we have tested. It may be stuck on power cords or socks and have difficulty navigating between surfaces, such as carpet and hardwood.
iRobot recommends that you tidy the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it might encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the dustbin and filter clean so they aren't clogged by dirt. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is depleted, it returns to the docking station and automatically empties the dirt into the station's dust bin. Then it continues cleaning where it started. The battery's lifespan is around an hour and a half of continuous use. It takes three hours to fully charge.
2. iRobot i7+ Roomba
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model of the flagship line from iRobot, and it has the most up-to-date features. It's self-charging and self-navigating, but the most significant feature is its self-emptying bin. This removes the need for routine maintenance.
The Roomba i7+ can remember up to 10 floor washing robot plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that allows it to identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can direct your robot using the app or via voice.
In our tests the i7+ was faster and more maneuverable than our second-placed model and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces kinds including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin which removes major maintenance sources and reduces recurring cost.
We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning session and to move around the room and sweep the area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. When connected we were able to give the i7+ voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and evaluating performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is a sports car that is amidst a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system captures allergens and expels cleaner air back into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets, and then pick up large dust or crumbs. It comes with three suction settings to suit the task at hand. It is able to swiftly switch from automatic floor cleaners vacuum to handheld vacuum, and vice versa.
This model also has a dock that charges to 100% in about 3.5 hours and offers an easy access to two attachments as well as a Wand clip. This is a significant improvement over earlier Dysons models, which require a lengthy charge and are a pain to store.
The main drawback of the V10 is its limited run time. Its marketing claims that it can last up to 60 minutes of running time are not true as CR's tests show. This is a typical battery-powered vacuum's run time. That's still enough run time to vacuum the majority of an average-sized house but not long enough to clean every spot (though the second time around usually will suffice). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeably superior on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
The 694 is a basic robot vacuum that's an excellent choice for those who don't have a lot of money to invest in the latest model of robot sweeper. It's capable of sucking up all debris types and sizes during our testing, and it often passes over the same areas multiple times to ensure a thorough clean. Its flat front allows it to reach the corners and edges of walls.
Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and help you navigate your home. However, it isn't equipped with the capabilities for mapping of more advanced models, such as our Top Rated Robot Vacuum picks, i3+EVO and J7+ Series. It may get stuck on phone cords or furniture and will often run out of power before returning to its home base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 in that it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower recurring cost and is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and can better maneuver itself. It also has a bigger dustbin, and charges more quickly.
The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also comes with physical boundaries strips and can be controlled using your smartphone's voice assistance. It is also more durable, has a stronger motor, and is more effective on low-pile and bare floors.

The app provides plenty of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior customization docking frequency settings and much more. It's simple to comprehend and easy to use, just as is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86 percent of it. It did not do well in avoiding taller objects like socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than the other models we've tested, and this could be a deal breaker for some buyers.
The app lets you access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's area of cleaning. This feature lets you to monitor your children or pets when you are away. The dustbin and the filter can be washed for a quick, painless clean-up.
