Greenpower Mobility - All-Energy Medium and Heavy-Duty Vehicles
Greenpower creates manufactures and distributes an entire range of heavy and medium-duty electric wheel scooter vehicles. This includes transit buses as well as school buses as cargo buses and shuttles.
EV Star is a highly customizable zero-emission vehicle that's fully FTA certified, Altoona tested and Buy America conforming. It has a range that is unbeatable, ADA wheelchair provisions, and cargo delivery systems.
EV Star
GreenPower Motor Company produces a full suite of high-floor and low-floor all-electric heavy-duty and medium-duty vehicles. The EV Star Cab & Chassis is their flagship vehicle, and can be adapted to meet a variety of applications. The platform's design is based on a simple paper that allows for the best placement of the battery and a lower center-of-gravity. This leads to better payload/range ratios.
The EV Star REEFERX is designed to be used for mid-to-last mile refrigerated delivery as well as catering applications. The refrigerated trucks of class 4 have a single interior wall structure and a higher insulation level than conventional trucks, allows for seamless sanitation and better temperature control. They also have a longer lifespan. The EV Star REEFERX offers superior capacity for cargo and a world-class payload to range ratio that is ideal for zero-emission goods and passenger transportation.
greenpower scooter has partnered with Perrone Robotics to up-fit the EV Star with their TONY (To Navigate You) autonomous vehicle system. This will allow fleets to quickly transition to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star can also be wirelessly charging up to 75 kW.
We had the opportunity to test drive the EV9 for a few hours on a local freeway, and found it to be a breeze to drive and comfortable for long distances. The ride is smooth over ruts and bumps, while the EV9 is a master of suppressing the sound of traffic and wind on the highway. The acceleration is extremely fast and the car has adjustable regenerative braking that allows "one pedal driving" by taking off the accelerator.
The EV9 provides a large range and can be charged in just three hours or less at home, or with any commercial charger. The driver can choose from two operating modes - eco mode and sport mode. Eco mode prioritizes the power and cruise control, as well as handling, while sport mode increases speed. Both modes are enjoyable to drive, and offer an experience unlike any other for those who have never driven an electrical vehicle before.
In addition to the EV9, GreenPower has several other e-vehicles available, including a multi-purpose electric minibus called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA compliant and can be used as an executive shuttle, micro-transit, transit bus, green scooter vanpool or paratransit vehicle.
GreenPower is currently producing around 10 EV Star buses a month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority, which is attempting to replace their fleet of old diesel vehicles with 100 all-electric vehicles. With the Biden Administration looking to electrify school buses nationwide, GreenPower plans on ramping production to meet the demand. Their EV Star buses are the first of their kind to be Altoona tested and FMVSS certified, Buy America compliant, and ADA certified. This means they'll be eligible for federal assistance in transit. We will be following the AV Star as it goes on its demonstration tour in later this year. We will be sure to provide more information on this EV that is truly innovative!
