1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They feature motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model) they utilize smart mapping to produce precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned up quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors They are also adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. Also, it doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of the room.
However, it's a good robot vacuum choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or school. The only thing it's missing that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into an elegant, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and self-emptying bin. If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire home, and it did so with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a great cleaning job on a variety of rooms and floors with various kinds of flooring, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was great and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it has an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work, or in the evening when you're trying to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and look better. If you're willing some more volume and some additional cost this is a capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.

The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than its more expensive competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.
Its vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to the degree of dirt they tend to be.

This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice command. A stair mode can be useful if you have a number of furniture. Also, a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you might think from its price. It is a good vacuum cleaner, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to ensure better performance. The app also gives access to many features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It is equipped with an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
