Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum will keep your floors clean enough to reduce the frequency of hoovering manually. Choose a robot vacuum that is well-trained in navigation, is able to clean corners and stairs and also has a large bin that only needs to be emptying every so often.
There are also models that clean and charge themselves which can be beneficial for those with pets or kids. Many of the top performers in our tests have good obstacle avoidance.
1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ a great option for those who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience but don't mind manually emptying their robot's dustbin when it is full.
Both robots are proficient at picking up surface dirt on carpets and hard floors, and they can easily move around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ doesn't feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or any other top-rated robots that we test. It can be stuck on power cords or socks and have trouble moving between surfaces, such as hardwood and rug.
iRobot suggests that you clear areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, which includes putting away any clutter or toys it may encounter. It's also recommended to keep the dust bin and filter clean so that they don't become clogged with dirt. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or its battery is empty it will return to its docking station, automatically empties its dirt into the station's external dustbin, and then continues cleaning where it left off. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for approximately an hour and a half of continuous use, and it takes about three hours to recharge.
2. Roomba from iRobot
The iRobot i7+ is a top model from iRobot’s flagship line and is packed with the most recent features. It has self-charging and self-navigating. But the most expensive robot vacuum important feature is its self-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for regular maintenance.
The Roomba I7+ can make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot vacuum cleaners with voice or via the app.
The i7+ is quicker and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from any surface, including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy it self-empties its dust bin that removes a major source of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.
We were also impressed with the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot cleaner commercial on how to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions as well as move around the room, and to vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. Once connected to these services, we were able give the i7+ voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is a sports car in a sea of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum for most households, but it also fits in well next to a coffee table or on the bookshelf, that you can spin around like a magic wand.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that produces power without fading for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system captures allergens, and then releases fresh air into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets and pick up large crumbs or fine dust. It has three suction modes to suit the task at hand. It quickly switches from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum, and then back to floor.
This model comes with an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100% in 3.5 hours. It also offers an easy access to two attachments and the handheld. This is a huge improvement over the older Dysons, which require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.
The biggest issue with the V10 is its limited run time. The claims of its marketing that it has up to 60 minutes of run time are misleading as CR's tests have shown. This is an average and not a remarkable time to run the battery-powered cordless vacuum. That's still enough run time to get rid of the majority of an average-sized house, but not quite long enough to get every single area (though an additional run-through often can be effective). However, this model isn't a good choice It's lighter and more maneuverable than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming efficiency is superior on carpets with a low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums, the 694 is a basic model that's an excellent choice for people who don't wish to spend too much on a robotic. It's capable of sucking up a variety of types of debris and sizes during our testing, and it often goes over the same areas several times to give a thorough clean. The flat front of the unit allows to get into corners and along the edges of walls, which is a nice addition.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and guide you through your home. However, it lacks the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, like our top picks, the i3+EVO and J7+ Series. This means that it is sometimes stuck on things like phone cords or low furniture, and it often runs out of battery power before making it back to its home base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects in that it has fewer components that need regular cleaning and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.
The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery longevity than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It also feels more sturdy and has a more powerful motor, and performs notably better on floors that are bare and carpets with low pile, while offering a wider range of automation options.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a well-known brand in the field of home electronics. It's no surprise that they are also among the top producers of robot vacuums and mop. Jet bot cleaner AI+ has the most advanced onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.
The app offers a wide range of options for customizing your robotic cleaner. These include virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior customizations, docking frequency settings and much more. It's simple to comprehend and easy to use, just as is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our tests in our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and cleaned up 86% of dog hair (on carpet). It was not as successful in avoiding taller items such as cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also a bit more expensive than the other models we tried, which might be a deterrent for certain shoppers.
The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that you can access through the app, and you can also set up a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature lets you keep track of your pets or children when you're away from home. The dustbin and filter can be washed for quick, easy cleanup. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with self-emptying clean stations, which helps keep the robot's bin clear and maximizes suction power.
6. Black & Decker Automatic hoover Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots have been developed specifically for flooring made of hard wood. They have an extra-wide cleaning path and dust bins that are 2X larger than the competition. This lets them clean the area for longer. Additionally, they come with two side sweepers that clean up around edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES Extreme model also includes AutoSense technology, which detects if it's picking up dirt on surfaces or embedded dirt and then automatically adjusts the power level. It also has a smart app that lets you see the virtual map and control functions and schedules. You can also monitor the vacuum's status and send it to its dock for charging at the touch of a single button. The app also lets you to customize the LED lights on top of the vacuum with different colors, so that you can easily identify which areas it's focused on or where it's gotten stuck.
The app makes it possible to steer the robot manually, if necessary. My living room rug, for example has a dark-colored border that can trip up some other robots. However the HRV 425BL continued to move across the border without registering it as a cliff. And the ability to set up weekly cleaning schedules is a great time-saving convenience.
