Boosters
There are a variety of boosts available with an item upgrader. They can include a range of stats, in addition to many additional bonuses. These bonuses can be applied to weapons or armor, as well as trinkets. They can be used to enhance the abilities of the character, or can be used to add an element of variety to a build.
The World of Warcraft upgrade system allows players to upgrade their equipment by paying currency to an upgrader for their item level upgrade. The system was first introduced in Mists of Pandaria, and continued with Warlords of Draenor. It's a great way to increase the quality of your equipment, allowing you avoid the tedious grind of completing quests and avoid a bunch of wipes in Mythic+ dungeons.
When an item is upgraded, its type of base changes. The upgrade of a normal item will result in an item that is Exceptional while upgrading an item that is Exceptional will result in an elite version of the base item. The item will retain the same stats it had prior to upgrading however it will also get an additional bonus due to its new base type. This bonus will be randomly selected from the following categories: the chance to acquire weapons with a greater damage range or an enhanced reload speed or the chance to obtain an improved defense roll.
The amount of extras you can get with an upgrade depends on the amount of upgrades done. Each upgrade will increase the number of extras by a maximum of 3 points. Each upgrade will also boost the stats in the main menu by +1.
In addition to the stat increase Certain upgrades can provide a random boost. These secondary boosts can be extremely valuable and should be considered when deciding which items to upgrade. Some of these boosts are beneficial in certain builds (such Whistan's shield, for FB sorcs) while others can provide an enormous amount of value to specific collectors.
Certain items come with a built-in boos that is not effective when upgraded. For instance, the Goldwrap offers an additional potion slot. These are usually upgraded to add value to an item level upgrade that is perfect or close to being perfect.
Costs
There are some costs that are associated with upgrades to items. The first is the upgrade itself. This cost depends on the item's new ilvl and the amount of perks it receives and is often expensive. Upgrades to a higher level (such as Explorer to Champion or Veteran to Heroic) are costly.
The second is the cost of the items needed to upgrade. The items used are usually either Power Dices (dropped by monsters 21+) or Minerals and Erons (obtainable by completing certain Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor quests). These materials can be found in the inventory of an upgrade vendor.
Upgrading an item is complicated and takes time. Depending on the size of the upgrade, it could take anywhere from 8 to 12 hours. The base stats of an upgraded item are calculated based on its new ilvl and other properties. This calculation determines the new Armor Class bonuses, damage dice, and other important stats. In some cases an upgrade may grant additional perks. These perks are listed on a list.
In rare instances, the upgrade will only replace the most expensive bonuses. The upgrader can also make other changes to the item, for example, changing the type of damage it deals to its weapon or eliminating an operational or unwieldy feature. The cost of these changes is determined by the new ilvl of the item, and may require a special substance like the adamantine alloy.
Success Rate
The upgrade of an item is based on the chance. Like any random system there is a chance that it won't work. There are several ways to increase the chances of success. This includes the use of an Upgrade Pity, or the addition of extra materials to your upgrade.
The Upgrade Pity can be purchased through the NPC for smithing in Lost Ark. It increases the odds of a successful upgrade by a certain percentage. It is similar to the luck bonus that some items have but is more stable. It can be added to any weapon or armor, and can be used up to three times.
You can also add additional materials to the upgrade to increase its chances of success. These are shown in a window above the + button. However, there are some limitations to this, and the highest amount of material that can be added is displayed just above the + button in the user interface.
A Blacksmith Blessing or an upgraded version thereof can be used to boost the chances of an upgrade being successful. This item is useful when your piece of equipment or weapon is nearing or has reached the highest level of its tier. This item lets you upgrade the equipment to the next level without risking its breaking.
If an upgrade fails the upgrade will be reversed to its initial state. This is usually a break, but it can also be a downgrade. You should save an upgrade until you're close to the maximum level for an item.
Kafra has a range of items that can be used in order to increase the chance of a successful upgrade. You can increase your chances of success by enhancing your equipment repeatedly using HD Oridecon and HD Elunium.
