The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention. It will leave your floors clean. Its price is surprisingly low and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are great features.
Be sure to regularly inspect your robot's brushes for hair tangled and large debris and wash them if required. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in a larger bin at the base. This reduces the amount fine dust that gets released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They have top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. As with other premium iRobot models (including the top pick) they employ smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans that avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it spots the presence of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned up quickly.
Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of a room.
It's still a good value for those whose home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. It's also quiet and can be used when you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you have to change the mopping pad for a dry one in just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with a powerful suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best rated robot vacuum robot hoover for carpets, although it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to offer more efficient cleaning. You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a carpeted room, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also ideal for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the task of cleaning a whole home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms with various flooring types, such as some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum cleaner vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models of the rivals. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It has advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has 100% in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has a simple mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work or during the night when you are trying to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient, but it's more expensive and produce more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however this was not 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also has an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house based on how dirty those areas are.
For bigger homes it's recommended to choose a model with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a specific area of your home by using the app or voice commands. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. Additionally the recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might think from its price. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that is washable.
The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app also provides access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It features a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like adorable eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
