The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've test. They feature motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model), they use intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture leg. They also feature carpet boost, a feature which boosts the robot's power when it sees a lot of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned up quickly.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our first option. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.
It's still a good value for those whose office or home has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save money. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used when you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoovers hoover for carpets, however it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This top-performing mop and vacuum combo uses advanced sensor technology to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it learns your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically empties into its base, and it supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
This mop and vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky units of the rivals. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.
Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a concern in the mornings before work, or during the night when you are trying to sleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, making it more efficient than its more expensive rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite foolproof in our testing and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with the amount of dirt they tend to be.
If you own a larger home, it is worth choosing a model that has zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned using the app or voice control. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. For families that are busy recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be extremely useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more sophisticated than the price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that is washable.
The iRobot application is designed to guide you through the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or organize an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, however it is more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums that we've tested. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
