World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items can be used to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it can boost the rarity of an item, or its Mark Level, and also boost other stats.
Upgrades to gear in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the price of the next item by a specific amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's base stats increases when it is upgraded. This value is the sum of all of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive, depending on the upgrader and the type of upgrade you choose to do. This is due to the variety of perks that have to be altered to upgrade an item upgrader mod.
The level of an item is a widely used measure of power, and can be found on all tooltips of items. It can also be used as a gating requirement while waiting to queue for dungeons and raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is capped at a lower level). Players can view their average item level in their character sheet.
Using the item level can help players compare the power of equipment when choosing to buy or sell. It's an excellent gauge of an item's worth and the amount of damage it will be able to deal. The level of the item can be used to compare items when looking at the inventory of a seller.
The level of the item can be seen by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the item's full description, including the ilvl. It is also accessible by hovering an item with the mouse cursor and typing /itemlevel into chat.
There are several theories about how the Best item upgrader level calculation is done. One theory says that the item level is calculated using an equation that determines how valuable the stats of an item really are. It takes into account the fact that different perks have different worth and that gems in sockets increase the overall value of the item. This can lead to an item's ilvl which is calculated and is typically very close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.
However, this isn't the only factor which affects an item's ilvl, as the level of the area the item dropped in can alter the value of its stats, such as by adding a level to its haste rating or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have higher ilvl.
Item Stats
The stats of an item can make or break an item for players. The game utilizes them in various ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to a single weapon and to encourage players to explore other weapons. The stat mods on a weapon boost the base stats. These stat mods are then enhanced by a player's level.
Upgrades to the item add by boosting certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines the upgrade cost. A grey or white item for instance, can only be upgraded once, while an item that has rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times with higher costs.
Another method of altering the stats on an item is to use affixes. They are stat boosters that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes can be used to give the item extra damage, add a special ability to the item (such as reviving the dead or reducing the cooldowns) or make the item unique by giving an exclusive name to the Best item upgrade.
At present, all affixes can be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circles arrows. This process will cost the player a certain amount of gold and other items that can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as other options for rerolling.
In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may select which stats to be kept on an item when it is upgraded. The possible stat ranges for an item are determined by the level of the item, but every item is guaranteed to have at minimum one stat within the range, unless it is a unique item or the result of a God roll from a raid boss.
Another thing that could change is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll affixes, or choose which stats to increase. As with the base equipment, it would have to be done per item, and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats at once.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the chances of item discoveries and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the strength of those properties. However, it does not, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to upgrade equipment earlier in the game. This is more advantageous in the early game, since players tend to prioritize weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.
Luck can also boost the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall chances of upgrading that increase with each new level of item. They can also be increased by using anti-materials such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Armor, shields, and weapons have an initial Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced by using golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the type of material) for a further +40 luck, or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.
Certain items, such as the weapon that is infused with hollow can also be crafted to increase the damage of any ability that is able to deal damage by 5%. These items can be found in the shop or crafted using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items can be a costly process and not all upgrades will succeed. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chances of success for an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their items if it is not successful.
The rate of success of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. There are limitations to how much success rates can be increased and the chance of a failed upgrade cannot be greater than 100%..
The success of an item upgrade is also affected by the luck of that item. Every item has a base success rate of 25% and every item with Luck increases that chance by an additional 5%.
The upgrade overlays of the item are rendered above the items in the inventory. This may cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects.
