A Small Double Buggy That's Easy to Push One-Handed and Carry Up and Down Stairs

If you're looking for a lightweight double stroller that is easy to push one-handed and carry up and down stairs this is the model for you.

It features a pair of fixed seats and can be configured with the possibility of up to 30 seating configurations (including a triple!). Both seats feature UPF 50+ canopy and windows that peek out.

Size

The Joovy Kooper X2 double stroller is a side-by side double buggy side by side stroller. It can be used by two children who weigh up to 50 lbs. Its seats are larger sized than those of other lightweight double strollers, and the canopies have spacious SPF 50 sunshades, with windows that are peekaboo. Other features that are important include a self-standing basket that has a a capacity of 25 lbs and cup holders for one parent and swing-away bars that help children get in and out of their seats. It is a great option for suburban and urban families. It also comes with two kits that include a newborn wedgie that allows for the perfect lie-flat position.

Weight

The weight of a double buggy is one of the main factors that determine the ease to push. A lighter buggy is easier to lift and carry, but might not have enough suspension to deal with bumps and uneven terrain.

Most double buggies have a maximum weight per seat and some have total frame maximums, so it's important to check the details of each model before you buy. Certain double buggies can be folded with the seats removed, making them lighter and more compact. This is helpful if you are limited on storage space.

Tri-fold doubles are usually the lightest models, as they only require a single hand to lift the top and lower sections. They're also a bit smaller than side-byside buggies, making them a good choice to fit through doors. The iCandy Geo 3 tri-fold double is one of most lightweight on the market. It can comfortably fit twins or a toddler baby.

Tandem buggies start out as one pushchair, but they come with adapters to add a second seat, carrycot or car seat they are a great option for growing families. Some, like the iCandy Orange, offer over 30 seating configurations so they can adapt to your family until three children. They tend to be heavier than tri-fold doubles. However, they're generally easier to move between kerbs due to the weight being evenly distributed.

Folding

The best double buggies for small children fold up in minutes. Our Lab experts love this feature as it helps them fit the buggies in the back of their car and free up storage space when not in use. The Joovy Kooper X2 for example has straps that can be pulled up on each seat and the whole thing folds down. Even our oldest testers could do this tri-fold in just one hand.

The lightweight Delta Children LX side by side is another great choice for double buggies. Its light weight is a plus but its main features are: nice-sized pop-out canopies with SPF 50 and peekaboo windows swing-away bars that help children get in and out of the seats and reclined seating and leg rests for smaller children.

Manoeuvrability

When selecting a compact double stroller, it is important to think about its maneuverability. This is a good indicator of how easy it is for both children to be able to ride in the buggy. Some pushchairs are better than others and include the iCandy's 'cinema seat' (where the back is elevated).

This is the reason why narrow tandem buggies and side-by-side designs can come in useful. However, they can be slightly longer overall and so may be difficult to maneuver through doors.

The UPPAbaby Vista 2 is an excellent example of this, as it's a relatively compact pushchair that allows for two seats to be added as well as the most important thing is a 'piggyback' board that can accommodate a third child.

Other three-wheeled models such as the phil&teds Dot are extremely agile, particularly with its clever 'dot kit that transforms into an inline buggy. It comes with two seating arrangements for children of various age groups and the front seat can be turned to face the parents for a more intimate bonding experience. It also comes with a storage basket and is easy to fold. This is a great option for growing families.

Comfort

Parents can keep both children safe at the park, in the grocery store or wherever else using narrow tandem buggies or side-byside buggies. These lightweight doubles can accommodate two children up to 50 pounds each and come with large pop-out canopy that extends enough to provide real shade with windows that peek out and padded leg rests for little ones to kick back and relax. The doubles come with a single parent cupholder and an adjustable cupholder on the seat back. They also have an enormous underseat storage basket.

Add the phil&teds double buggy with car seat single to double buggy Pushchair (Pandahouse.Lolipop.Jp) Kit to your dot buggy when you are just beginning to build an expanding family. It can transform into a double stroller, which is perfect for toddlers and infants alike. The innovative 3-wheel design gives superior manoeuvrability and easy kerb pop, whilst the Sling seat is a fantastic newborn-friendly option that will allow for a perfect face-to-face bonding. As your children grow older just switch the sling to an infant car seat adapter and you're ready to go. With a deluxe rain cover and travel bag, you're ready to go on your next adventure!
