If you're expecting twins or two young children of different age groups, a double stroller with infant car seat buggy will help you get out and out and. The best ones are simple to maneuver and can deal with rough surfaces and kerbs.
These vehicles also have features like large sun canopies, as well as transparent hoods, and adjustable seats.
1. Baby Jogger City Tour 2 Double
The City Tour 2 Double is the smallest double stroller within the Baby Jogger range. It's designed to travel and fits through standard doors easily due to its slim and compact design. It's also among the lightest double buggies available weighing only 14lb when folded. It's ideal for travel with a toddler and a newborn since you won't exceed airline luggage allowances. It can also be folded up into a small travel bag, which means you can put it in the back of your car.
The one-handed, Z-shape folding is easy and it's extremely compact once you get the hang of it. It takes a few minutes to fold. However our tester discovered the auto lock to be a bit confusing and as the handlebar wasn't locked into place when you press it, it hit her legs when she used it. She also thought that the handlebar was on the short side. This is especially the case when a large bag for changing is hanging from it.
Unlike other lightweight travel buggies it doesn't sacrifice features and is among the most comprehensive double strollers that are available. It's compatible with two carry cots (available separately) It also has multiple recline positions and an UV 50+ canopy. You can also add an additional bassinet to one or both seats, and turn it into a travel system.
The four tires made of rubber are great for pavements as well as urban terrain. However, they're not made for off road double buggy-roading. They had a hard time with long grass and gravel and there was not enough clearance between the wheel bracket and the wheel, so mud stuck easily. Our tester loved this vehicle and was able to climb some beautiful hillocks that were muddy.
2. iCandy Orange
The iCandy Orange double stroller with infant car seat buggy is the ultimate in style, versatility and quality. It is a must-have item for parents who want a stylish and durable double buggy that will last. The Orange is a stylish frame that is lightweight and sleek with an enormous basket that can easily accommodate 2 car seats. It comes with a gorgeous removable water repellent as well as a breathable canopy with mesh ventilation. It is available in trendy colors like Pistachio on the Jet Black Frame, Fossil on a Jet Black Frame, and Rose. There's also the possibility of a built-in ride on board for older sibling to join in the fun.
The 2021 update comes with a few changes including improved manoeuvrability and an even larger, better shopping basket with a re-designed bumper bar and leatherette cover. The seats are extremely comfortable and have a sculpted appearance. They're also adjustable, so they can be set to suit siblings' needs. iCandy has introduced the first "cinema seating" style that allows parents to keep eye contact with both children. They can be adjusted so that they face either the parent or the world.
It's a heavier tandem buggie but it's easy to drive and use especially on smooth pavements. It's stable in double and single mode, and even on sloping ground. It's not as easy to drive on public transport, however, because it requires more than one hand to grip the handlebar. It's also large and will not fit into a standard car boot with the seat on, however this can be overcome with careful planning. iCandy has included an infant footmuff and a changing bag in the cost, so it's a great value package for parents who are just starting out.
3. Joie Evalite Duo
This is a tandem stroller that is ultra-lightweight. It has two seats that are non-reversible that are ideal for infants to around 3 years old, and it can fit a car seat in the rear seat.
It comes with a simple and easy to use folding mechanism that makes it convenient to travel with and store. It also has a spacious basket, ideal to store all of your baby's and toddler's essentials.
The Joie Evalite Duo is a great double buggy for beginners because it is a great value for money and is simple to move. It is also extremely lightweight which makes it easy to push over long distances. It also has a high-quality suspension system that ensures a smooth ride for both parents and children.
This is an elegant and practical city buggy that is suitable for twins, a baby and a toddler or even three kids with the addition of UPPAbaby's 'PiggyBack' board (sold separately). Its sleek frame and a small size, which makes it ideal for narrow streets and shopping malls. Its swivel front wheels and four-wheel suspension allow it to handle rough or uneven terrain.
Another good feature is that this buggy can accommodate a car seat in the back making it a great choice for families that plan to travel. It comes with the one-click fold that secures it and can be used with a wide range of Joie infant car seats. It also comes with a large basket and comfortable seats for both children. The only drawback is that the front seat doesn't recline completely, which can be a problem for infants. It's a great option to consider if you're seeking a light and inexpensive stroller.
4. Cybex Gazelle S
If you're expecting twins, this is definitely the stroller for you. It's Cybex first travel system, and it comes with built-in adaptors that allow you to transform from one stroller to a double. The upper adaptors can be adjustable to your height, and the lower adaptors can be twisted and flipped to make it easy to change from one configuration to another. The Gazelle's seats also recline into a pretty flat position and have an extended, large UV 50+ sun canopy that is essential for your little ones.
This is the future-ready multi-purpose stroller that is able to adapt to the needs of your family. It can be used from birth as a mono-pushchair, and after four years, it can be double pushchair with the addition of a CLOUD Z iSize car seat or a second-seat unit or Gazelle Cot. The new harness with one-pull makes securing your child a simple and easy process, especially when you're carrying the baby on your back!
The Gazelle S is unique to other double pram pushchair strollers because it folds compactly with both seats attached. This makes it easy to store at home, or even in your trunk. A large lower basket can hold up to 25 lbs. of shopping, everyday essentials or food items. A detachable shopper's basket offers even more space. This stroller is extremely flexible and family-friendly thanks to its harness that is one-pull and large recline. It also comes with wheels that are puncture-proof, so you don't be worried about those unexpected flat tubes during your trips away from home.
5. Nipper Double V5
The Nipper Double V5 from Out 'n' About is a refreshed version of the award-winning all-terrain buggie. It's made for siblings or twins, and features independent reclined seats, compatibility with carrycots, and a light frame that makes it easy to maneuver on bumpy terrain.
The height-adjustable handle and rear wheel suspension provide an enjoyable ride for children up to 22kg, and the durable pneumatic tyres are easy to wipe clean and give a smooth ride when jogging. The 360 swivel front wheel can be locked into place to facilitate moving around town, and the one pedal brake that locks easily is simple to use.
Our testers discovered that the Nipper Double is incredibly easy to navigate, even on bumpy terrain or turning into an area with a lot of traffic. The feature that the seats can be reclined independently was also a big hit.
They also loved the fact that the hoods could be moved forward and back making them easy to adjust in the sun or to provide wind protection. They didn't offer the same amount of coverage as the Baby Jogger City Mini Hoods. It's worth packing an additional rain cover in the case.
Overall, our testers were impressed with the Nipper double's capacity to let them take their twin daughters Sydney and Lyla to all kinds of adventures. From seeing wildlife in the forest or rushing to a park to play with their friends they were thrilled. They were also amazed by how cosy and spacious the two seats are with plenty of space for growing toddlers to stretch out in. Our test participants did not agree, however, that the lack of parent-facing seating and the inability of using car seats in this buggy were a problem, and they would like to have more storage space to store shopping items and other accessories.
