World of Warcraft - Item Upgrade

The item upgrade feature allows players to increase the level of equippable weapons or armor. This improves the stats of that gear, as well as sometimes adding buffs or rolling an affix again.

In addition an upgraded item might be able to provide extra buffs for its equipped unit. These upgrades can be used to increase the overall power of a group or individual unit, and can have a significant impact on the gameplay.

Items can be upgraded at any NPC who is an upgrader in the game. Typically these NPCs are found in capital cities or major questing areas. You can also find upgraders of items in dungeons that feature high-level bosses, and speaking to NPCs in garrisons of your faction.

The item upgrade system in World of Warcraft provides players with the ability to upgrade the levels of weapons, armor, and trinkets. This procedure is similar to the reforging of gear in Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor. However, instead of using currency, players need to visit an item upgrader to complete the process.

Upgrades can be costly particularly for armor and weapons. Based on the upgrade path each step in the level of an item can cost several Valorstones or crests. The costs can be prohibitive for players who do not have the money, or are unwilling to grind.

Fortunately, the game lets players play a reroll of an upgraded item by using a special tool in the menu for items. Rerolling some upgraded items is only possible if the item that was upgraded was an Epic Rare, Rare or Unique. Rerolling an item that is Rare or Epic item will produce a Normal version, and rerolling the Epic version will result in an elite version.

Time

Upgrades to items can be used to improve the stats of your ship and gear without having to level them. A player can turn an item upgrader mod into another upgradeable item by selecting it and pressing the green button with an arrow that indicates reroll. This alters the layout of the item window and allow players to select up to six items to "recycle". The item level upgrade that is recycled can be exchanged for an item of level 1 similar to it. Rerolled items won't retain their status or the amount of resources needed to upgrade them.
