They also come with a feature called carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.
Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of a room.
It's still a good value for those whose home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or going to school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets but it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.
This high-performing combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it learns your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.

This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an intuitive mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work or at night when you are trying to sleep.
It's also a bit costly however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient however, it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features to help you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection however this was not foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on how dirty they are.
If you have a bigger home, it is worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you tell the robot which area of your home needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. For families that are busy recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be extremely useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It is a good robot vacuum vacuum cleaner and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has a reciprocating motion that is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to create a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app also gives access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It is equipped with an impressive 8000 Pascal suction and sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also set up a spot cleaning that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
