robots that vacuum and mop (discover here)
Robots that vacuum and mop provide the convenience of cleaning both dry debris (dust dirt) and wet mess (spills and stains) in one session without the need to switch out devices. They also can save space compared to two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot will have impressive navigation and obstacle avoidance. Find models that automatically empty their bins and refill their water tank, and machine-wash their mopping pads from a dedicated dock.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It's among the easiest robots to set up that we've ever tested. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and an easy-to-follow guide will have you running with a clean, full dust bag, a hard floor solution and water tank in a matter of minutes.
The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can vacuum and mop well. The mops spin at fast speeds and exert 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, allowing for quick removal of pet hair, dirt and dried sticky spills. The vacuum has four power modes, a selection of brushes and attachments, and a user-friendly application that lets you choose the kind of cleaning you'd like for each room.
You can, for example ask the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly but leave the spare bedroom alone. The S1 Pro's front collision sensors and smart navigation technology are excellent too as the robot is capable of detecting tiny obstacles that other models have difficulty overcoming. The only problem is that it tends to crash into walls and objects at full speed. However an inspection of the history of cleaning on the app will show you exactly what the robot has accomplished, where it's going, and which obstacles he has run into or avoided.
A handy LCD screen on the docking station tells you when maintenance jobs must be completed like emptying the debris tray, and cleaning the dirty water tank. It's also capable of mixing detergent automatically into the water tank, by using a 600ml bottle filled with the eufy's solution.
Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum come with a long-running time. The mop can run for 184 mins in Quiet Mode and the vacuum can last 136 mins in normal mode, prior to needing recharging or returning to the base. You can view the full cleaning details in the app, which is well laid out and is easy to comprehend although we would like to be able to differentiate between a mop only vacuum and a vacuum/mop clean when looking at a cleaned area in the cleaning history.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's top robot cleaner with mop mop and vacuum. Unlike last year's model, this one features two agitators in its mopping pad, which significantly improves its carpet cleaning abilities. The S8 Pro Ultra also has an improved suction capacity, allowing it to remove small hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners might be unable to pick up.
The Roborock model, like the other two I tested is equipped with infrared and 3D obstacle avoidance technology that helps it get around obstacles like walls, furniture and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things one step further by having a dual camera that can detect objects and decide whether they're an object that is a wall or a different surface. It is able to change its path automatically and clean around them without stumbling.
It's the most expensive robot I've ever tested and it comes with the most features. Its sleek angular design is striking and comes with three buttons that are physically accessible. The power button, which restarts the cleaning mop function, a button for cleaning that doubles as a child-lock, and a home-button to take the robot to its dock. The hinged lid can be lifted to reveal 350ml of dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank is automatically filled and the bin automatically refills.
The only downside I've discovered with this model is that the VibraRise mop pad mount isn't movable. While you can replace the mopping cloth (if needed) however, it's a hassle to remove the mount itself to wash it manually. I've found that any plush carpet the robot crosses will come into contact with the Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, and that could cause abrasions.
The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart capabilities which include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can set up and manage these through the Roborock app which is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to schedule cleanings and monitor battery life and component maintenance. You'll need to jump through a series of steps to activate voice control on this model. This is a shame considering the performance otherwise.

The mops are cleaned and dried in the base station each time they are used. This is a fantastic feature as it stops the build-up of mould and unpleasant odours in the storage area, and it also makes mop systems more efficient. There are many options, including the option to schedule cleaning times and adjust preferences. These can be set via the app or there are buttons that can be found on the unit itself. The L20 Ultra has a stylish design that has a white-and-metallic look that looks sophisticated and classy. It's a bit heavier at 4kg than some of the other robots listed on this list however it's not too heavy. It feels solid and well-constructed.
