The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Examine your robot vacuum cleaners uk's brush frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them if needed. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in an additional bin at the bottom. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums that mop vacuums we've test. They have top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they employ smart mapping to produce precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like furniture legs. They also have carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it spots the presence of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned up quickly.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our tests on floors that are bare, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of a room.

Still, it's very good, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and can work while you're at work, or school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for a wet one in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with an impressive suction system and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it falls behind some competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and provide cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could sweep the entire house, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job cleaning a variety of rooms and floors with different flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that looks like a regular Roomba rather than the compact models This mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive looking models in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient, but it's more expensive and make more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and fills up the water tank, and cleans and dries the mop pads.

The smart robot vacuum uk makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the home based on how dirty the areas are.

For bigger homes, it's worth opting for models with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a specific area of your home by using the app or via voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. For families with busy schedules recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be very beneficial.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than the price suggests. It vacuums well and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a reciprocating movement that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to create a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app also grants access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It has an impressive 8000 Pascal suction and sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
