1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model), they use smart mapping to produce precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture leg. They also come with a feature called carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it detects the presence of dirt on the carpet, allowing it clean quickly.
Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors They're also particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.
Still, it's very good robot vacuum for those who want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also quiet and works while you're at work or in school. The only thing it's missing that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of seconds.

Its flex arm is perfect for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the entire house with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did an excellent job of cleaning a mix of rooms and floors with mixed flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was great and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
With an elegant circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba rather than the boxes This mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive looking models in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's a noisy unit which could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. If you're willing to put up some more volume and a little more cost this is a efficient two-in-one device that should satisfy most people.

It also mops using only one pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robotic vacuums we've tried. It also has an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
