A Small Bedside Cot That Attaches to Your Adult Bed
A bedside sleeper cot crib can help you keep your baby close to you at night, without having to get out of bed. The breathable fabric allows you to see your baby easily and they are simple to lower when you require an early feeding.
Some also double up as a moses basket, too.
What is a bedside cot?
A bedside crib, also known as a bassinet, or co-sleeper is a baby cot that is attached to an adult bed. This allows your baby to sleep with you in peace. This is a type of co-sleeping in a safe manner that doesn't increase the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) similar to bedsharing and can help you build a bond with your newborn.
These cots have an end that can be lowered to allow you to reach your baby easily in the nighttime to comfort them and feed them. This is especially helpful for mothers who are recovering from a c-section. Many of them are foldable or portable which means you can use them for trips and as an interim solution for infants that aren't yet ready to be able to transition into a crib that is large enough.
If you're looking for a crib to sleep in, look for a model that has a breathable mattress and a cover to shield your baby from the stains. You might also want to purchase baby-safe items such as the blanket or teether.
If you're looking for a more long-term option, some cribs have conversion kits that allow you to transform them into a cot or toddler bed at the time of need. This is a great way to extend their life and making the transition smoother. Some come with a removable section at the top that can be transformed into the bassinet. Other models can be used with an adult bed that is standard or a high-rise bed. This is a great option for families who intend to travel frequently or switch between bedrooms at night. You should also think about the size of your room to ensure you can fit the crib in comfortably. Many cribs have a riser that can be added to create an incline for babies who have reflux.
The Joie Roomie Glide
The Roomie Glide, a bedside baby sleeper crib made by the English brand Joie is a fantastic addition to their range of high-quality products for babies. The co-sleeper was created to help parents connect and sleep side by side with their babies, without sharing a single bed. It is full of features that help make bonding between parent and baby safe, easy and enjoyable.
A gentle rocking motion can be activated by pressing a button. This gentle rhythm can help to soothe your baby without disturbing their natural sleeping patterns. This is ideal for older babies and toddlers who are struggling to settle. It can aid in digestive issues such as reflux and colic.
The crib can also be fixed to the side of the bed with clips and straps. This makes it extremely solid and secure, allowing you to get a good night's rest without having to worry about your little one rolling off into the middle of the room. The rounded shape of the cocoon features soft padded side panels and double mesh windows at both ends. This allows for airflow while keeping your baby safe.
The mattress included is comfortable and firm. It includes a washable cover. The crib is easy to put together and take down thanks to the lightweight aluminum frame that makes it very portable. The four rubber-covered wheels lockable ensure that the crib will not leave marks on your flooring and is easy to move. It is easy to clean with fabric wipes and is easy to carry in a travel bag which makes it ideal for long-term time away from home.
The Tutti Bambini CoZeeAir
This premium model is designed to be a secure, next-to-me-crib from birth to 6 months. It features rocking bars for easy mobility and castors. Its airflow mattress is luxurious and provides an incredibly comfortable sleeping surface, while ventilators keep your baby cool. There are six different height settings including an incline option that can aid with congestion and reflux.
Contrary to some cribs that are placed on the bed which can be a challenge to clean due to their constant stream of snot and dribble and snot, the Tutti Bambini CoZee Air comes with a wipe-clean liner and fabric that can be washed in the machine. Plus, it has an upper bar that is easily lowered to feed at night without having to search for zips in the dark.
Anna found the CoZee to be a safe, comfortable sleeping space for her baby. She was pleased that it didn't sway like other models, which meant it wasn't waking her at night when she was trying to soothe her baby during feedings. She also appreciated that the side of the chair was lowered so she didn't have to reach over her partner to lift the child out for nighttime feedings.
The CoZee comes in oak or charcoal and is a fashionable option for any bedroom. It's more modern than other cribs we've seen, which are often quite utilitarian. It's also fairly light at 11kg and comes with a carrying case which allows you to take it on vacation or if you're moving house. It's all you need to buy is a waterproof sheet and a safety strap for sleeping together. There are step-by-step directions and illustrations to assist you in putting it together when you first open the box which makes it a one-person task if needed.
The Maxi-Cosi Lora
The Iora is a bedside bassinet that helps parents feel connected to their infant as they sleep. It can be adjusted up and down and moved to three different positions for sliding to fit under the bed of the parent or in the corner to ensure that the infant is always within reach. The mesh siding is breathable, allowing air to flow through and allows you to glance at your baby. And you can stow extra pajamas and supplies in the large storage basket under.
As opposed to other bedside cribs Iora is a standout among other bedside cribs. Iora can be folded flat and comes with a carry-on bag so that it can be carried anywhere. It was easy to move around from room to space, and our mom testers thought it was the perfect size for a bedside co sleeper cot crib. They also loved the large storage basket that is ideal for storing nappies or other bedding items.
This is an excellent choice for parents who are looking to co-sleep, but don't wish to share their beds or whose partner may have mobility issues, like arthritis or back pain. Our mums who tested it were thrilled to be able to easily access their baby while in the Iora and that it included an option to have a reflux incline which helped to reduce gas.
Our moms also love the fact that the mattress is in line with NICE guidelines which state that you should place the infant in a crib or Moses basket on its own (with no blankets, toys, pillows, etc). The mattress is also a good firm and comfortable for babies and sheets are easy to find. It's not as light as some of the cribs that are smaller on our list, so if prefer something lighter and easier for you to move, you can choose another option.
