1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have tested. They have motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model), they use smart mapping to produce precise floorplans that avoid obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it detects a lot of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our first option. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.
Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can work when you're at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into an elegant, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot vacuum cleaner best hoover for carpets, although it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.
You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a carpeted area which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm can be utilized to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the task of cleaning a whole home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a good job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with mixed flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
With an elegant circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba than the competition's boxy units this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive designs in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with an easy mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's a noisy unit, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive, although it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and look better. If you're willing with a bit more noise and some extra cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should please almost everyone.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than its more expensive competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time however this was not foolproof in our tests and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to the amount of dirt they tend to be.
If you have a bigger home, it's worth selecting a model with a spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. A stairway mode is useful if you have a number of furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be very beneficial.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might imagine from its price. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, arrange an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with a powerful 8000 Pascal suction as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it is more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuum reviews vacuums that we've test. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
