WoW Item Upgrades
Item upgrades--more commonly known as "upping"--are enchantments and items that can be put on armor and weapons to boost their effectiveness. These upgrade items add a number of points to a level gauge for the item, with their cost increasing in proportion to their popularity.
The melee PvP scene highly values a perfectly rolled version of the armor for its ability reduce weapon damage.
Type-restricted upgrades
The process of upgrading is an essential part of the crafting process. Upgrades can be used to increase the effectiveness of an item, increase its strength, or even provide a bonus effect. They can also alter the appearance of an item. While some upgrades are universal, others have specific rules for applying to weapons or armor. Using the wrong type of upgrade could ruin a great weapon, and may even cause it to become useless.
As a rule you can only upgrade an item of equipment up to the level of its top-level counterpart. This means that you can upgrade body armors, helms, shields and gloves to the level of their top-of-the-line counterparts. Weapons can be upgraded to the level equivalent of the sword. However, this doesn't increase the damage output of the weapon and could decrease its value in trade.
You can upgrade an item by using flightstones or crests. The amount of each is contingent on the item upgrading's level and slot. For instance upgrading to a sword will cost more flightstones than upgrading a cloak or bracers. You can also avail discounts on the number of crests and flightstones needed to upgrade an item.
The upgrade of an item upgrader mod will fill up its diamond-shaped indicator. Each step raises Tier level by one-third. Tier 3 is the highest level. It may take different upgrades to reach this level, depending on the item. It is crucial to remember that any procedure that could mount a disk should not be running when upgrading. You must also make sure that the disk you are upgrading is not being used as an system drive.
Enchantment allows you to change white or Common items to rare or blue items. It can be done at Eleanor's Enchantment Shop in the Capital District. This procedure does not add gem or rune slots to the equipment, but it does change its size. It increases the size of equipment by the size of a creature 2 categories smaller, so for example the Blaster Pistol is deemed Small, whereas an Stormtrooper Armor is Medium.
Universal upgrades
Universal upgrades are upgrades which can be applied to any type of equipment. This includes armor, weapons and trinkets. The upgrade components are usually random, but they may also be obtained through side quests. Universal upgrades can be temporary or permanent, and they can overlap with Power Ups. They can also be branching or linear.
The Universal Upgrade starts when "internal technologies" can give sentient creatures new capabilities that would be unlikely to develop naturally. Examples of internal technology are prostheses or implants. This kind of upgrade is different from medical internal technology which aims to restore the natural capabilities. It's the beginning of the process that will alter civilizations fundamentally. The universal upgrade is a tense process that can take an extended time to complete. However the process is divided into two distinct classes: full success and partial failure.
This is similar to way resort upgrades work at Disney or Universal. In the case of WDW the reason for this is usually due to operational requirements such as availability of rooms or the overbooking of rooms. In the case of Universal, this could be to transfer guests from one resort to another that is open. This is not meant to be mean-spirited, but it is something that can be necessary in the current climate.
Contrary to Runes, Sigils and Jewels which can only be applied to specific types of equipment (armor weapons, trinkets or weapons), universal upgrades can be applied to any gear. In addition, they can be applied to a variety of items at once. They are therefore more versatile than other types of upgrade. However, this flexibility could cause problems when upgrading items within the specific gear path because it can increase the level of each item in all pieces in that path.

Jewels

Jewel tiers are determined by the number of modifiers they have. Jewels of higher tiers are more than lower-tier jewels. The primary effect is determined by a jewel's tier, while the secondary effect is random. Players can use luck potions in order to increase their chances of receiving more beneficial secondary effects.
Jewels can be added to items with matching sockets as with other upgrade components. For instance, a Garnet Pebble (gemstone) and an Adorned Garnet Jewel (jewel) both provide a bonus to strength, but the Garnet Pebble will only increase regular hits, while the Garnet Jewel also boosts the player's strength. Jewels can be found in all weapon, armor and accessory slots. They also work with exotic trinkets or lower rarity trinkets that require the use of a slot.
Gems are a DM-specific mechanic that can help make items feel special to their owners. By offering a variety of different upgrade paths jewels let players customize their equipment and find the combination that best suits them. They can also upgrade their existing equipment with new jewels if the initial set of a certain model is no longer suitable.
