EV Star

GreenPower Motor Company manufactures a complete line of medium- and heavy-duty electric vehicles, including lower-floor and high-floor models. The EV Star Cab & Chassis is their flagship vehicle, and it can be customized to suit a wide range of applications. The platform's clean sheet design allows the best battery pack placement and scooter green power mobility power scooters (click the up coming post) a lower center of gravity, resulting in better payload to range ratios.

The EV Star REEFERX is designed to serve mid to last mile refrigerated delivery and catering applications. The class 4 refrigerated truck's one wall structure in the interior and higher insulation levels compared to traditional trucks allow for seamless sanitation, better temperature control and a more extended life. The EV Star REEFERX delivers superior cargo capacity and a top payload to range ratio for zero emission passenger transport and goods.

GreenPower has partnered with Perrone Robotics to up-fit the EV Star with their TONY (To Navigate You) autonomous vehicle system. This will allow fleets to easily transition to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star will also be able to support wireless charging at 75 kW.

We had the opportunity to test the EV9 for several hours on a local highway and found it to be a breeze to drive and comfortable for long distances. The EV9 can be used to block the sound of traffic and wind driving on the highway. It is smooth on ruts and humps. The acceleration is surprisingly quick and the vehicle has adjustable regenerative brakes that allow "one pedal driving" by simply taking off the accelerator.

The EV9 is extremely reliable and can be fully recharged in about three hours at home or with any commercial charger. The driver can select from two operating modes - eco mode and sport mode. Eco mode prioritizes torque, cruise control and handling while sport mode maximizes speed. Both modes are fun to drive and offer an unforgettable experience for those who've never driven an electrical vehicle before.

In addition to the EV9, GreenPower has several other e-vehicle offerings such as a multi-purpose, all-electric minibus called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA-compliant and can be used as executive shuttles, microtransit or transit buses, vanpools, or paratransit vehicles.

GreenPower is already producing around 10 EV Star buses a month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority, which is working to replace their fleet of diesel vehicles with 100 all-electric vehicles. GreenPower will increase production to meet the demand of the Biden Administration which wants to electrify all school buses in America. Their EV Star bus is the first of its kind to be tested by Altoona and FMVSS-certified. Buy America compliant and ADA conforming. This means they will be eligible for federal transit assistance grants. Stay tuned for updates as we follow the AV Star on its demonstration tour later this year. We will share more information on this innovative EV.
