Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
Item upgrade, also referred to as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment increases the stats linearly.
Players can recycle up to six items at a time to gain an ability to gauge the level of each of the upgraded components. The cost of recycling items scales according to their rarity and level.
Upgrade components
In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade of an item can be a method to increase the stats of your weapon and armor. This can be accomplished by a variety of methods such as using upgrade components or increasing an item's rarity or mark level. A lot of items can be reforged in order to increase their stats.
Upgradable items can be found throughout the game, both within the world and as rewards for missions. Players can also make them. Upgrade components are the most common method of upgrading equipment. These are the items that can slot into equipment. The majority of equipment comes with slots to upgrade, and many require a certain amount of upgrade. Some upgrade components give specific bonuses, while others offer general bonuses.
There are a variety of upgrade components available in the game, including universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gemstones and enchantments, can be put on any equipment and offer lower bonuses than upgrades for specific equipment. Glyphs can only be placed in gathering tools and offer various benefits, from increasing the speed of the item's collection to providing additional crafting materials.
To upgrade an item, select it from your inventory and open the Upgrade window. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen showing what the expected stats will be after the upgrade, and any necessary components or materials. The Upgrade button at the bottom will show blocked if you don't have enough of or.
The upper-right side of the screen shows the amount of upgrade components required for a particular item. The cost of upgrading increases with the level and rarity of the item. However you can cut down on the cost of upgrades by purchasing them from a seller, or trading them with other players.
Nearly all weapons can be upgraded by the use of a prefix upgrade, such as an insignia or rune. Many can be upgraded with suffix upgrades. These upgrades can be used to add an adjective to the item's name for example "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".
Glyphs
Glyphs can be a powerful tool for communicating visual information. They move to catch the attention of the viewer and stimulate curiosity in the brain. The animation of glyphs resembles body language, making them even more effective at conveying messages across language barriers. Glyphs also evoke a sense of familiarity in the brain, thereby increasing retention of the message.
Each glyph has a range of values that it can increase a stat's value in the form of an item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use it to enchant an Artifact. This isn't the actual amount by which the glyph will increase a stat, but the maximum value by which it can do so. The value of the glyph depends on the tier and quality of the item you are in awe of.
The majority of upgrade components that are added to items cannot be removed or replaced without dismantling them, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. However, if you have a rune or glyph that has not yet been incorporated into your gear, you can move it to another piece of equipment by utilizing the Upgrade Glyphs context menu in the Glyphs panel. This will create an Glyph Set that includes the chosen glyph.
You can take out any glyph with the help of the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item upgrader mod on which the glyph is placed will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be salvaged with the glyph shards.
When you remove an item after putting a glyph on it, the shards from the glyph will disappear. You can also put a glyph on your equipment to make it more valuable. For instance the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and distribute it slowly instead of all at once. This is helpful for players who suffer many hits from enemies but do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens are used to change the affixes on weapons and equipment. They can be obtained from various sources, including mystery boxes or rare drops from skulled monsters or by killing bosses. Every reroll grants the player an affix randomly chosen and usually better than what they had prior to. Reroll tokens can also be a good way to reroll weapon stats and can be upgraded to provide better damage or perks.
Rerolled items are not listed on the menu for item upgrades, but they are still able to be upgraded. By pressing the "upgrade button" you can recycle the items that have been rerolled. This will alter the design of the item's window, and allow up to six items to be selected for recycling. The gauge of level is increased by recycling an item. This amount is determined by the item's rarity as well as its level, therefore items with higher levels are more valuable to recycle than lower-level ones.
In addition to reroll tokens, players can make use of Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to roll the weapon traits of an upgraded unit. Rerolls will roll a % chance to determine a weapon's trait. If it is higher, then the weapon is upgraded. If it rolls lower, the weapon remains unchanged. Weapons can be repeated up to three times.
Rerolls are a good option to upgrade an item, however, players should be aware that it can reduce the overall ilvl the weapon due to the number of rerolls used to raise the weapon to its ultimate ilvl. This is evident on rings and Diadems, as they have no other options for raising ilvl.
Players have complained that the reroll system is too expensive. It's better to allow players to pay for it using money or food items, which would allow players to make changes to their builds without having to invest excessive amounts of time. However paying for rerolls is not something that the developers would like to incorporate at this point in the game's development. Instead, they're planning add a race change potion in the future.
Leveling
There are several ways to upgrade an item. The most effective method to level up an upgrade to an item is to increase the upgrade amount. This boosts the value of upgrading the stat. The second option is to boost the effect of the upgrade, which can increase damage or healing for the stat. The base item can be upgraded to an advanced upgrade type. The new item will retain its iLevel but be upgraded to reflect the effects of the upgraded item.
When you upgrade items, it is important to keep in mind that upgrades aren't always planned. In the majority of cases the Best item upgrader roll will result from glyphs, however there are also chances for higher or more special rolls. In addition, the iLevel of the upgrade will be determined by the item type and when you upgrade a unique or rare item to a unique type you will have a chance to gain a higher iLevel.
Upgrades can be costly, especially if you are upgrading gear from the standard track to the legendary. The price will depend on the Best item upgrade's iLevel base and the amount of upgrade levels it comes with. In addition, some upgrade tracks require crests in order to get to the next upgrade level.
If you're fortunate the upgraded item will reach the maximum level on its upgrade track, and thus unlock an additional benefit. This will provide the item with a significant upgrade value. The bonus effect will vary with each upgrade level though. In general, the effect of upgrading is increased by +3.
The iLevel will also change depending on the item's upgrade path and its base level. For instance an item that has been upgraded from being a scarce or unique item to an outstanding one is likely to gain the Enhanced Defence of the new base item.
