World of Warcraft Upgrades and item upgrading (Telegra officially announced)

Upgrades can increase the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also boost extra bonuses such as damage from PvE and crit chance.

For example a weapon that has the upgrade template ending in % will gain 3damage to attack each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

Item upgrading costs crests and the item's current level. The cost rises with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, weapons and armor to give them a boost in stats or to add an additional effect. These can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot for them. The item must be at least upgraded to the blue level to allow a component to be used. Upgrade components, unlike other mods can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a special type of upgrade component used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment and some of the non-ascended back items. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, thereby changing the name of the item it's applied to (for instance, 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, allowing players to make stronger versions of the equipment using less Upgrade Crystals than would be required to achieve the same upgrade level through normal methods.

A boost upgrade is a way to modify the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. These upgrades are available for purchase them in the cash shop or getting them from enemies while upgrading other gear.

Each upgrade increases the chance that a higher-tier version of an item will be revealed in the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their gear, even in the event that they don't know how much it can be improved upon a reset.

The process of upgrading an item could be expensive and it's possible that the item will eventually become obsolete or even break if the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed when an upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to minimize or eliminate the chance of failure. Some upgrades also offer an additional bonus when reinserted.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to improve the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets with special functions. Glyphs boost the power of nodes within a radius, including any pre-existing affixes. Glyphs can be upgraded in numerous ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as you can to level 15.

In the endgame, you will often find that the most effective way to upgrade your equipment is to use Glyphs. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded straight to level 15, and they provide significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to get higher nodes more quickly.

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced however, Glyphs are only the one upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without restriction. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt using the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you choose it in your inventory. You can replace it with an Glyph that is the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools and also during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.

Once you have the desired Glyphs then you have to attach them to your gear. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that boosts the stats of a particular set of nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. It can be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats based on the Glyph.

The use of the Glyph can boost all nodes that are connected to it, and it is recommended to position your Glyphs close to key nodes on the Graph to maximise the impact. Druids for instance should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might be able to place them near their critical damage nodes.

Leveling

The item upgrading system allows players to improve the effectiveness of specific items by putting upgraded components inside them. This is referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item comes with a level that determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires various components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab of a crafting table. Each completed Upgrade Recipe earns several Technology Points. These points can be used to level the item, and when enough points have been earned, the upgrade will be claimed and its additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When a player upgrades an item upgrader kit to a higher level, the original item is replaced with a different item of the same type. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item will come with a bonus of its own. This could be a problem because it can cause the item to become more expensive if you don't need it.

The upgrades to items can be rerolled, if the player has enough reroll tokens to do this. The item will be replaced by a brand new one that has a level 1 basis and completely different bonuses. This can be useful, but should not be repeated often since it can be a waste of resources.

Some upgrades can be rerolled several times, increasing their value and giving players the ability to alter their gear. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives a buff when the player repeatedly enters and leaves the water (or swims like dolphins). The item can be upgraded many times, increasing the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is extremely valuable in PvP. A properly rolled version can be worth 50 times the value of its unupgraded counterpart.

Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to upgrade the level of their equippable equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate items and currencies to an NPC that upgrades items. The upgrade of armor set pieces will also increase the base defense of that piece, while upgrading weapon equipment will increase the base damage and required strength and dexterity to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.

All items are upgradeable up to five times except for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Each time you upgrade an item it has an opportunity to fail. The failure rate increases the farther you go beyond the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures will result in the item reverting to its original condition, which requires the user to pay more for materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the maximum amount of upgrades.

If an item does not upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Additionally the item upgrader will lose any bonus it earned, including crit chance and attack damage, and all additional effects associated with the effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or reload speed). However, the player may continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.

If an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that, should a weapon gain an increase in the chance of crit it will be applied before any increase in attack damage. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the item definition and the value is calculated every time an upgrade is made.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is based on the rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to its base value. For instance an item of common use could have five upgrades at a cost. 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will come with a much lower cost for each additional upgrade.

Premium items have different requirements for upgrading as compared to standard equipment, for instance, they might require fewer sowels, but they will require more minerals and erons. Players will still have to bring every piece of equipment they wish to upgrade to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each upgrade to equipment requires different amounts of the upgrade ingredients in addition to the costs mentioned above.
