However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our first option. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also quiet and works while you're at work or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.

It comes with advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has a simple mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work, or at night when you are trying to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and look better. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and some extra cost it's a efficient two-in-one device that should satisfy most people.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with how dirty they tend to be.
If you own a larger home, it is worth selecting a model with a zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your house needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have large furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be very beneficial.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
