Obtaining Your Driving License A1
A driver's license is an important document which permits you to drive. You must enroll in driving school and be able to pass both physical and written tests.
A1 is the first category of driving licence that allows you to operate a motorbike up to 125 cc and 11 kW. If you are over 24, you are able to obtain a category A license.
Training
The first step in your motorcycle journey is to obtain your driver's license A1. You must complete a 17-hour introductory course before sitting for your theory or a practical driving test. You can complete the training at a driver's institute or at a continuing driver training center or through private trainers.
During the training you will be taught the rules of the road and how to operate your motorcycle safely. You will also be able to practice riding your bike and improve your handling skills prior to taking the tests. After passing the theory test, you will be required to pass the practical A1 motorcycle test, which will be conducted by a certified test taker. The A1 motorcycle test consists of two parts: a brief test that is based on the theory of driving and a practical driving test. Both are administered on the same day.
The test for theory consists of 20 multiple-choice responses. Only two incorrect answers are required to pass. The theory test is a computerized test administered by the relevant testing center. You can prepare yourself for the test by reading the Highway Code. You must also practice answering sample questions before taking the actual test.
After passing the test in theory, you can then book your practical A1 test. You can prepare for the practical test after you have passed the theory test. This includes familiarizing yourself with highway code and demonstrating riding techniques such as hill starts and lane changing. The test's practical component is divided into Module 1 and Module 2. Module 1 is an instructional module that focuses on off road manoeuvres. You will be assessed in your ability to perform controlled U-turns as well as an emergency stop. You will be required to execute a variety of controlled road maneuvers such as a figure eight and a slower ride. You will then be required to demonstrate a good eye and anticipate road dangers.
Once you have passed your driving licence a1 test and passed the A1 test, you can then move up to the A2 category for driving licences. This is only available after you've held your A1 driving licence for at least two years.
Licensing requirements
