Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum will keep your floors clean enough to reduce the frequency of manual hoovering. Pick a robot vacuum that has good navigation, can clean corners and stairs, and that has a large bin that only needs to be emptied periodically.
There are also models that clean and charge on their own which can be essential for those who have pets or kids. A majority of the top performers in our tests have good ability to overcome obstacles.
1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ an excellent option for those looking for a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of having to empty their dust bin manually when it fills up.
Both robots are adept at removing surface dirt on hard floors and carpets, and they can easily move around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart robot vacuums maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. However unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots we test the i3+ doesn't have obstacle-avoidance capabilities which means it can be stuck on things like power cords or socks, and may have issues navigating across surface transitions like from hardwood to carpet.
iRobot recommends that you tidy the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it might come across. It is also recommended to keep the dustbin and filters clear to avoid becoming clogged. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or the battery is empty it will return to its docking station and automatically empties its debris into the station's external dustbin, and then continues cleaning where it left off. The battery's life span is approximately an hour and a half of constant use. It takes about three hours to charge.
2. iRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot i7+ is a top model from iRobot’s flagship line and comes with the latest technology. It is self-charging and self-navigating. But the most important feature is its auto-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for regular maintenance.
The Roomba I7+ can make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot using voice or through the app.
The i7+ is faster and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy the dust bin is self-emptying, which removes a major source of maintenance and lowers the cost of maintenance.
We were also awestruck by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning session and to move around the room and sweep an area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. Once connected, to voice commands to the i7+, like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world full of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans or buses, this tiny Dyson model feels like a sports car. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum for the majority of households, but it also fits nicely on the table for a coffee or shelves that you can spin around like a magic device.
The V10 is powered with a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery, which produces power without fading for 60 minutes. The sophisticated whole-machine filter system traps allergens, then lets cleaner air into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets, and then pick up large dust or crumbs. It comes with three suction modes to suit the task being performed. It is able to quickly switch from floor vacuum to handheld vacuum, and vice versa.
The model also comes with an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in around 3.5 hours and provides an easy access to two attachments as well as the wand clip. This is a major improvement over previous Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.
The biggest issue with the V10 is its short run time. Its claims on the market that it can last up to 60 minutes of run time are misleading as CR's tests have shown. This is a common, not exceptional, battery-powered cordless vacuum's running time. This is still enough to vacuum the majority of a home that's average size, but not quite long enough to get every single area (though an additional run-through often can be effective). This doesn't mean that this model doesn't have its advantages It's lighter and more maneuverable than older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming performance is significantly better on low-pile carpet.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
The 694 is a basic robot vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have a lot of money to spend on an expensive robot. It could pick up all kinds of debris in our testing and often went over the same area multiple times to give an extensive clean. Its flat front end helps to get into corners and along the walls' edges, which is a nice touch.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt technology to stay clear of obstacles and help you navigate your home. However, it isn't equipped with the ability to map that is found in more advanced models, like our top picks, i3+EVO and j7+ Series. Because of this, it may get stuck on things like phone cords and low furniture, and it frequently is power-depleted before returning to its original location.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects because it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in moving itself. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.
The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for most purposes, as it has a better battery life, the ability to change its suction power mode manually and has physical boundary strips, and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It is also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and performs better on floors with low pile and bare.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a household name in home electronics. It's not surprising, then, that they are also among the top producers of robot vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has the most advanced onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.
The app provides plenty of options to customize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior modification, docking frequency settings, and much more. It's easy to understand and user-friendly, as is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our testing our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86 percent of it. However, it did not do particularly well at avoiding higher-up objects like cords or socks, which was disappointing. It's also more expensive than the other models we tried, which might be a deal-breaker for some shoppers.
The app lets you access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum. You can also set up live streaming from the robot's cleaning zone. This feature allows you to monitor your children or pets while you are away. The dustbin and the filter can be cleaned to ensure the quick and easy cleaning. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with a self-emptying clean station, which helps to keep the buy robot vacuum cleaner's bin clear and maximizes suction power.
6. Black & Decker robot sweeper Vacuum
Unlike other robotic vacuum cleaner sale vacuums, that are specifically designed for carpets and hard floors, Black and Decker robots are specifically designed for hard floors. They come with a wide cleaning path as well as a large dustbin that holds twice as much debris than competitors to keep the area clean for the longest time. The POWERSERIES model also comes with AutoSense, which automatically adjusts the power level depending on whether it's collecting surface dirt or embedded dirt. It also comes with a smart app that lets you view the virtual map, and control functions and schedules. You can also track the status of the vacuum and connect it to the dock for charging at the touch of a single button. The app makes it possible to steer the robot manually, if necessary. My living room rug, for instance, has a darkly-colored border which could cause a problem for other robots. The HRV 425BL however continued to travel across the border without registering the cliff. Also, the ability to set up the weekly cleaning schedule is a wonderful time-saving benefit.
