EV Star
GreenPower Motor Company produces a full line of high-floor as well as low-floor all-electric medium and heavy-duty vehicles. The EV Star Cab & Chassis is their most popular vehicle and it can be customized to suit a wide range of applications. The platform's clean sheet design allows for optimal battery pack placement and lower center of gravity resulting in better payload to range ratios.
The EV Star REEFERX was designed for mid-to last mile refrigerated deliveries and catering applications. The refrigerated trucks in class 4 have a single interior wall structure and higher insulation than conventional trucks, enable seamless sanitation and better temperature control. They also have a longer service life. The EV Star REEFERX has a higher capacity for cargo and an industry-leading payload to reach the range of zero-emission transport of passengers or goods.
GreenPower has joined forces with Perrone Robotics to up-fit the EV Star with their TONY (To Navigate You) autonomous vehicle system. This will allow fleets to easily change to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star will also be able of wireless charging of 75 kW.
We had the opportunity to test the EV9 for several hours on a local highway and found it easy to drive and comfortable for long distances. The EV9 can be used to block the sound of traffic and electric mobility Scooter fastest wind driving along the highway. It is smooth on bumps and ruts. The car's acceleration is surprisingly quick, and it features adjustable regenerative brakes that allow "one-pedal driving" simply by lifting off the accelerator.
The EV9 provides a large range and can be charged within three hours or less at home, or with any commercial charger. The driver can select from two operating modes - eco mode and sport mode. The eco mode is a preference for the cruise control and torque and the sport mode increases speed and handling. Both are a lot of fun to drive and offer an unique experience for anyone who has not driven an electric vehicle before.
In addition to the EV9, GreenPower has several other e-vehicle offerings including a multi-purpose all-electric mini bus, called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA-compliant and can be used for executive shuttles, transit or microtransit vanpools, buses, and paratransit vehicles.
GreenPower produces approximately 10 EV Star buses per month for Jacksonville Transit Authority. The Jacksonville Transit Authority is replacing their fleet of diesel vehicles with 100 all-electric cars. GreenPower will increase production to meet the demands of the Biden Administration which wants to electrify all school buses in America. Their EV Star bus is the first of its kind to be tested in Altoona and greenpower mobility (Daoqiao.net) FMVSS-certified, Buy America compliant and ADA compliant. This will make them eligible for federal transit grants. Check back when we follow the AV Star on its tour of demonstration later this year. We will provide more details on this exciting EV.
