A Small Bedside Cot That Attaches to Your Adult Bed

A crib that is placed near your bed allows you to keep your baby close at night, without having to get up. The fabric's breathable design allows you to easily see baby and they're super easy to lower for those sleepy 3am feeds.

Some double as a moses basket, too.

What is a bedside crib?

A bedside crib (also called bassinet or co-sleeper) is a baby cot that attaches to your adult bed, allowing your baby to sleep comfortably next to you. It's a method of co-sleeping that is safe and doesn't increase the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) like bedsharing, and can help you bond with your newborn.

They usually have a side that is able to be lowered, so you can easily reach your infant at night to feed and comforting. This is particularly helpful for mothers who are recovering from a c section. Many of them are foldable or portable so you can use them for travel and as an interim solution for infants who aren't ready to be able to transition to a larger crib.

If you're looking for a crib that is bedside, look for a model with a comfortable mattress and a protective cover to shield your baby from stains. You'll also want to purchase baby-safe accessories such as a blanket and a soft toy.

If you are looking for a more long-term solution Some cribs have conversion kits that let you transform them into a toddler bed or a cot when the time is right. This will prolong their life and make the transition smoother. Some have a removable top section that transforms into an infant bed, and some can be used on either the regular or high-rise adult bed. This is a great option for families who intend to travel frequently or switch between bedrooms at night. Consider the dimensions of your bedroom to ensure that you be able to fit in the crib comfortably. A lot of cribs have an riser that can be used to create an inclined position for babies who suffer from reflux.

The Joie Roomie Glide

Famous for their high-end baby products for babies, the English brand Joie has stepped into the world of bedside cribs with the Roomie Glide. Designed to allow parents to bond with their children while sleeping together, without sharing a bed. This co-sleeper comes with features that help make bonding between parents safe, easy and fun.

One of the main features is a soft rocking motion that can be activated by the touch of a button. This gentle rhythm can soothe your baby into sleep without disturbing their natural sleeping patterns. This is great for toddlers and older babies who are struggling to settle and can also help with digestion problems such as reflux and colic.

The crib can be locked into place once the rocking is completed to stop it from moving. It can be secured to the bed's side with a strap and clip attachment. This makes the crib stable and secure and allows you to sleep soundly without worrying that your baby bedside co sleeper might roll off into the middle. The rounded cocoon shape comes with soft padded sides and double mesh windows at both ends to allow plenty of air flow whilst protecting your baby.

The mattress is soft and comfortable and comes with an easy-to-clean cover. The aluminium frame is light and lightweight, making the crib very mobile and easy to put together. The four lockable rubber-covered wheels ensure that the crib does not leave marks on your flooring and are easy to move. It is easy to clean using fabric wipes and is easy to put in a backpack, which makes it ideal for long-term stays away from home.

The Tutti Bambini CoZee Air

Designed to be a safe crib for babies from birth to six months, this superior model features rocking bars and castors to allow for ease of movement. The airflow mattresses are deluxe and provide a comfortable sleeping surface, while the ventilation panels keep your baby cool. There are six different height settings and an incline option that could help with congestion and reflux.

The Tutti Bambini COZee Air crib has a fabric that can be removed and wipe-clean lining. This makes it easier to clean than some bedside crib that turns into cot cribs that are messy to clean. It also has a top bar that can be easily adjusted to allow for feeding at night without having to mess with zips.

Anna found that the CoZee was a safe and comfy sleeping space for her infant. She loved that it didn't rock like other models, so it didn't wake her up in the night when she was trying to comfort her baby during feeds. She also loved that the side of the chair could be lowered so she didn't need to reach over her partner to lift the child out to feed them at night.

The CoZee is available in charcoal and oak and was a stylish addition to the bedroom. It's more of an expensive piece of furniture than many of the other cribs that we've tested, which can appear rather utilitarian. It's also quite light at just 11kg, and comes with a carry case so you can take it away on holidays or when you move your home. It's all you need to buy is an extra waterproof sheet and safety strap for sleeping together. The instructions and images are easy to follow once you open the box.

The Maxi-Cosi lora

The Iora is a bassinet designed for infants designed to make parents feel closer to their infant while they sleep. It adjusts up and down and moves through three slide positions to be placed next to the bed of the parent or in the corner of the room so that the baby is always close to the parent's side. The breathable mesh siding allows air to flow through and allows you to glance at your little one. You can also store extra pajamas or supplies in the large storage basket beneath.

Unlike some other smaller bedside cribs Iora is a standout among other bedside cribs. Iora folds flat and comes with a carry-on bag so that it can be carried anywhere. It was easy to move from room to room and our mum testers believed it was the right size for a bedside cot for twins crib. The large storage basket is perfect to store extra bedding or nappies.

This is a great choice for parents who want to co-sleep but don't want to share their bed. Or if one of the parents has mobility issues such as arthritis or back pain. Our mom testers love the ease with which they can access their child in the Iora and that it has an optional reflux incline to aid in reducing gas.

Our moms also love the fact that it meets NICE guidelines which state that you should place the baby in a crib or Moses basket on its own (with no toys, blankets, pillows, etc). They also say that the mattress is comfortable and firm for the baby and easy to find sheets for. It isn't as light as the other cribs for bedside crib with changing table use, though, so if you want something lighter and easier to move around with, think about one of the alternatives on our list.
