1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have tested. They have top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model), they use smart mapping to produce precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like cords and furniture leg. They also feature carpet boost, a feature that increases the robot vacuum reviews's power when it detects the presence of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned up quickly.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors They're also particularly adept in removing pet hair. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
Still, it's very good, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also quiet and operates while you are at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you have to change the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets but it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.
This high-performing combination vacuum and mop uses advanced sensor technology to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it also learns the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and customize zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.
You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is ideal for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could complete the task of cleaning a whole home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a good job of cleaning a mix of rooms and floors with different flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was superb and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuums that mop vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky units of the competition. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.
Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit that could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or at night as you try to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and some additional cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a variety of sophisticated features to help you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium rivals. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the house based on how dirty those areas tend to be.
For bigger homes it's worth looking for a model that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house by using the app or voice controls. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have large furniture. For families with busy schedules recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be very useful.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion, which is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. And it's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It features an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. And you can set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuum cleaner vacuums we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
