1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They have motors that are top of the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they employ smart mapping to create detailed floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature Carpet Boost, a feature which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our top option. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.
It's still a good robot vacuum deal for those whose office or home has a lot of bare floors and you want to save money. It's also very quiet and works when you're at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you need to change the mopping pad to a dry one in just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also features strong suction and an automatic bin for emptying. The flex arm can be used to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to clean an entire home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job cleaning a range of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek circular design that appears like a regular Roomba than the competitors' compact models, this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most appealing looking in our reviews. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an intuitive mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's loud which could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and some additional cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the home based on how dirty those areas tend to be.

Additionally, a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a rotating motion which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily. It has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've tried. It also has an app that's less intuitive and a small base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
