World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The item upgrader kit upgrade allows players to boost the gear rating of an item by up to 700 points and add a final bonus. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you bring them to the kiln.
Certain items can be upp'd to increase their stats (like perfect made breakpoint armour that can be rolled to use in melee PvP) while other items, such as weapons don't change much post upgrade and thus aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to increase their numeric stats like crit chance, attack damage, PvE and damage to PvP. Weapons also have an unchanging bonus that increases their damage per second. In addition some weapons come with a set bonus that activates when three or more of the same weapon are present on a unit. In certain instances, this bonus can add up to more than the amount of damage a weapon upgrades by itself.
The cost of upgrading a weapon depends on its rarity and level. For example an item upgrader kit with a rating of +2 will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade items while the +3 model requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will continue to increase until it is required to use a higher tier of Smithing Stones, at which the amount will be reset to one.
Upgrading weapons will also reroll their base stats. While this is generally a good thing, it can have some negative effects as well. In the case of items that are only used in a particular build (Whistant's shield for FB Sorcs, for example), upgrading them may make them unusable unless you have an extremely fortunate roll.
Upgrades can be made to armor items to improve their stats. This will increase the base defense of a chest or helm, while belts and gloves will boost their required strength and agility. Armor also offers an option to reroll its Enhanced Defense percent, which means that it can sometimes change its roll to a lower value.
The upgrade template of a weapon will display the new stats it will gain after upgrading, along with the relative value of those stats. This means that an upgrade from an 8 attack-damage sword to an 11-attack-damage sword will result in a weapon gaining an attack damage of 3. However the 3% difference doesn't mean that it will hit for 3 fewer times because it's an absolute statistic.
Rerolling a weapon is also possible by pressing the green button in the item menu with the arrows that are circling. This will reroll the item and change its stats, however, it will not reset the weapon's levels or connect to the status of your account.
Armor
Making a few improvements to your armor can make huge differences in your ability to endure. Certain sets can provide MASSIVE increases in resistance to curses, poisons fire, magic, and other. This makes it easier to navigate difficult terrains. In general, the more defense you have on your character, the greater health you can get from each point. Therefore, it is recommended to upgrade your armor.
To upgrade your armor, head to any of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four Great Fairy Fountains available in the game and to unlock each one you must complete a side quest that involves the Stable Trotters. After you've completed the main side quest and have completed the fountain that corresponds, you can then contact any Great Fairy to open up the menu for upgrading your armor.
Each piece of armor can be upgraded up to three levels, and the amount of material and Rupees required to complete each level will differ. It is possible to use anything from three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade the initial armor piece, and between five Rubies or ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, as an example can be upgraded to a +5 defense rating, which will allow you to stay ahead in frigid environments with a large group of adversaries. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other is able to be upgraded to +20 defense to ensure you can survive a raid with your comrades.
It isn't possible to upgrade armor like weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior, you should focus on upgrading your armor to increase physical power or the power of spells. It's also worthwhile to save your armor upgrades for armor you'll be wearing at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield, or the helmet you wear for the final boss battle as well as the Monter Parts merchant's mask.
You can also gain advantages to your armor by presenting the jeweler at Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. It is generally recommended to save these upgrades to the weapon you'll use to beat the game. For instance, the Longsword or Battleaxe. However, it's beneficial to have some upgrades to the armor on your chest and helmets to let you get around a few monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that when consumed by the participant, produce the player with a temporary effect for a short period of time. There are five types of potions with different effects and durations. Some potions may be upgraded, enhancing their level of effect. Alternatively, the effects of some potions can be enhanced by adding glowstone dust or redstone to the potions.
Upgrades to your potion require a specific amount XP. This can be obtained through crafting them on a crafting table or by placing them in the Alchemist chest. The price of upgrades will vary based on the type of potion you'd like to upgrade, and also on the item upgrades's Mark Level and Rarity.
To upgrade a potion, click right on it in your inventory and select the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open a GUI which allows you to choose the potion that you want to upgrade and the amount of experience they will provide when upgraded. Upgrades to potions can be made in batches of up to five at a single time, and the XP they earn will be added to your current XP total.
Once a potion has been upgraded, it will not degrade until you re-use it, or break the bottle it's stored in. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will allow you to change its name.
There were some changes to the mechanics of potion in version 1.7.2. Splash potions, for instance are now available with a time of that is 0:08 instead of 22.5 seconds shown on the hover display of the item. The table of potion now crafted from four Wood Planks, and two Glass. This allows it to be used by players playing Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions are not compatible with cauldrons, as is the case with Java Edition. Similarly, using a potion on a full cauldron, it drains the liquid and refills the bottle.
In addition, there are simmering potions made using splash and dragon breath potions. In the same way, a lingering potion effect can be extended by adding redstone. The potion table is rearranged to look more like the Java Edition. New potions have also been added such as the potion of leaping and decomposition.
Trinkets
A trinket can be an ornamental item that is small, cheap or piece jewelry. It could also be an object or ornament that has a purpose but is not important such as a trinket. In some cultures, trinkets are used to symbolize affection or friendship, particularly between family members.
In addition to armor, weapons, and potions, players can upgrade their trinkets. These can be upgraded by going to an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate currency. Unlike other item upgrades trinkets are able to be traded out at any time without losing their status.
Upgrade vendors can be found at the capitals of each zone and in some cases in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets can be purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of trinkets that are rare.
The upgrade of a trinket can be an affordable alternative to buying new ones. One can upgrade a trinket for just 12 tokens. The new trinket has the same level of base as the old trinket however, it will also come with an additional bonus of 1% upgrade.
Trinkets can be upgraded when the old ones are no longer needed, allowing a player to boost their power and value over time. They can also be traded between players and are a popular alternative to gold.
In general players should make upgrades to their most important items first. This means that the top-in slot items for each class are first upgraded before their secondary gear, and then other equipment that they won't be replacing in the near future (such as a ring or an cloak). Players should also take into consideration their class's preferred stats when choosing the items to upgrade. For example when Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for tanks it is recommended that they upgrade their chest, helm shoulders, belt, and chest.
Trinkets can be re-upgraded to a higher ilvl once they no longer have value and the new trinket can be upgraded to have an additional bonus of 1% for upgrading. Re-upgrading will destroy the trinket unless it is salvaged using a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a salvage tool. This means upgrading trinkets is more expensive than other upgrades, however it is still cheaper than buying an entirely new trinket.
