GreenPower Motor Company produces a complete line of high-floor and low-floor all-electric heavy-duty and medium-duty vehicles. The EV Star Cab & Chassis is their flagship vehicle, and it is able to be adapted to meet a variety of applications. The design of the platform is based on a simple sheet of paper, which allows for the best positioning of the battery pack and a lower center-of-gravity. This results in higher range/payload ratios.
The EV Star REEFERX is designed to be used for mid to last mile refrigerated delivery and catering. The refrigerated truck's class 4 configuration's one interior wall structure and higher insulation compared to traditional trucks allow for seamless sanitation, better temperature control and a more extended life. The EV Star REEFERX offers superior cargo capacity and a payload that is industry-leading to allow for zero emission goods or passenger transportation.
GreenPower partnered with Perrone Robotics in order to equip the EV Star with TONY (To navigate you) autonomous vehicle systems that will enable fleets to easily move to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star is also capable of wireless charging up to 75 kW.
We were able to test drive the EV9 on an unpaved highway for several hours and found it easy to drive and comfortable to drive long distances. The EV9 is able to suppress road noise and wind while on the highway. It is smooth on bumps and ruts. The vehicle's acceleration is surprising quick, and it has adjustable regenerative brakes that permit "one-pedal driving" simply by taking off the accelerator.
The EV9 is extremely reliable and can be fully charged in just three hours at home or using any commercial charger. Drivers have the option of choosing between two operating modes including eco mode and sports mode. Eco mode is a great way to increase torque as well as cruise control and handling, while sport mode increases speed. Both modes are enjoyable to drive and offer an experience unlike any other for those who have never been in a vehicle with an electrical system before.
