WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item upgrade by +3. A random substat is also added to each upgrade.
The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll an exact version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.
The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current item upgrade level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear from other sources. For example upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item upgrading from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items that can be used to improve the quality of weapons, tools, armor, and other items. They can be purchased by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon or armor. button, which displays an item's preview at the next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrades varies based on the item upgrader mod slot and the current level of the item and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Upgraders for items can be found in many places on the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to upgrade require a variety of means that are both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with some new features added. When a player has an upgrade to a certain item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading further items to that level will cost less, even if they are part of another set of gear.
The discount is applicable to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain achievement milestones.
Crests
When upgrading gear in WoW players have a few options. Flightstones are an item level upgrade (great site) that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

It's also crucial to choose crests in a wise manner, as they only have one use. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can locate, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
