GreenPower Motor Company manufactures a complete line of medium- and heavy-duty electric vehicles, which include lower-floor and high-floor models. Their flagship vehicle is the EV Star Cab & Chassis platform, which is able to accommodate many different body designs and upgrades for a variety of applications. The platform's design is based on a simple paper sheet, electric Mobility Scooter Fastest which allows for optimal placement of the battery pack and a lower center-of-gravity. This leads to better payload/range ratios.

The EV Star REEFERX was designed for mid-to last mile refrigerated deliveries and catering applications. The refrigerated trucks in class 4' one interior wall structure and higher insulation than conventional trucks, allows for seamless sanitation and better temperature control. They also have a longer lifespan. The EV Star REEFERX provides superior cargo capacity and an industry leading payload-to-range ratio for zero emission passenger transport and goods.

GreenPower has partnered with Perrone Robotics in order to equip the EV Star with TONY (To navigate you) autonomous vehicle systems that will enable fleets to transition to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star is also capable of wireless charging up to 75 kW.

We were able to test drive the EV9 on a local highway for several hours. We found it easy to drive, and comfortable to drive long distances. The ride is smooth over ruts and bumps, while the EV9 does an excellent job of suppressing road noise and wind on the highway. The acceleration of the vehicle is astonishingly quick, and it has adjustable regenerative brakes that permit "one-pedal driving" simply by lifting off the accelerator.

The EV9 offers a great range and can be charged in three hours or less at home, or with any commercial charger. The driver has the option of choosing between two operating modes: eco mode and sport mode. The eco mode is a preference for torque and cruise control and the sport mode maximizes speed and handling. Both are a lot of fun to drive and provide an unique experience for anyone who has never driven an electric vehicle before.

GreenPower offers several other eVehicles, including a multipurpose all-electric minibus called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA compliant and can be used as an executive shuttle, micro-transit or transit bus, vanpool or paratransit vehicle.

GreenPower is already producing about 10 EV Star buses a month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority, which is attempting to replace their fleet of older diesel vehicles with 100 all-electric vehicles. With the Biden Administration looking to electrify school buses nationwide, GreenPower plans on ramping up production to meet demand. Their EV Star buses are the first of their kind to be Altoona tested and FMVSS certified. They are Buy America compliant, and ADA compliant. This will make them eligible for federal transit grants. Check back for updates as we follow the AV Star on its demonstration tour later in the year. We'll be sure to provide more information on this EV that is truly innovative!
