WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give you boost in specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of the item upgrades by +3. A random extra substat is also increased with each upgrade.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less valuable for those with higher variance because of the requirement to roll an exact version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear current it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.
Upgrades can cost more based on the item level, however they'll always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them from NPCs of item upgraders for a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be used on any weapon or tool with the help of button, which displays an item's preview when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and the current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. After an Best item upgrader has been upgraded to a certain degree, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.
Item upgraders can be found at many locations including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and the possibility of obtaining a new recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no item upgrader available at the start of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades are acquired via a variety of means which is both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3 the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with numerous new features added. When a player has an upgrade to a specific level for an item level Upgrade in an armor slot, upgrading additional items to that level will cost less even in the event that they belong to a different gear set.
The amount of Valorstones required to upgrade is reduced and the discount is account-wide. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
Players have a number of options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for gear with a certain rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the more complex one may require as many as 20 crests, based on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by finishing content at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities, or by completing dungeons and raids in all difficulties to get equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.
Using these new currencies isn't too complicated, but the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level on all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also important to use crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. For instance, it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment available and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan on making. This is especially true for items like rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character, that will be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount when all slots are full of high-quality gear.
