1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they utilize smart mapping to produce precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like cords and furniture leg. The robots also feature Carpet Boost, a feature which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our first choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.
It's still a good deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also quiet and operates while you're at work or in school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with a wet one in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum that mops robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performing mop and vacuum combo uses advanced sensor technology to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.
You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also great for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could clean an entire home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a good cleaning job on a variety of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically fills up its base, and also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
This mop and vacuum combination features a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy models from the competition. It is one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums uk vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It comes with advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with a simple mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. If you're willing some more volume and some extra cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will delight most.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically empty the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and washes and dry mop pads.
The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home depending on how dirty they tend to be.
If you have a bigger home, it is worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice command. A stair mode can be useful if you own a lot furniture. Finally, a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might imagine from its price. It is a great job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying, washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app also grants access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It features a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has an app that is less intuitive and a small base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
