bedside crib and travel cot - Click 4r explains,

Bedside cribs resemble a bassinet and are attached to the side of a bed. They typically have a single side that can be put down to make it easier to reach and some even have an incline that's ideal for babies with reflux.

MFM test subject Georgina found this crib to be easy to build and the instructions were clear, which made it a quick and easy build. It also folds down into an extremely compact size and comes with a convenient bag for travel cot bedside crib.

Easy to put together

Bedside cribs are typically simple to set up and are on the smaller side so they fit neatly alongside your bed. They are also lighter, which makes them more transportable. Georgina one of our MFM home testers, praised the Maxi-Cosi for being "super straightforward to put together, with clear instructions and easy zips." This crib can be used as a travel crib and comes with a convenient bag. It comes with multiple mesh windows for breathability and the adjustable height means it can fit on any mattress.

Some cribs with a bedside have a side panel that can be raised, allowing an easy access to your baby without having to get out of your bed. This is a great solution for breastfeeding mothers or those who wish to be close to their child throughout the night, but don't want to be at risk of co-sleeping (which is linked to a higher risk of SIDS).

Most models have an integrated rocking feature. This can be very relaxing for your baby and aids in falling asleep. Some cribs can recline in a position, which can be useful for babies suffering from reflux or colic. They should only be used under supervision, and a health professional or a GP is recommended prior to attempting this position.

A lot of bedside cribs have a canopy over them to shield your baby from light and sound, which can be helpful in keeping them calm. Some have a storage compartment beneath, which is ideal to store blankets, nappies, and other items for your baby.

Many cribs for bedside use can be converted into toddler beds or standalone cots. This is a major selling point for many families. MFM's 2021 Mother&Baby Awards winner, the Joie Roomie Go, for example, has removable side panels as well as conversion kits and tilting tummies that make it versatile enough for travelling. It also has 5 different height adjustments to fit your bed, and was loved by our MFM home testers for its ease of put together and comfortable. It is also compact and easy to move around. The Graco Play Yard is also known as a Pack and Play, is another popular choice. It was a finalist for the 2022 Mother&Baby Awards.

Cozy and comfortable

You can keep an eye on your child from the in the comfort of your bed using a crib that is placed at your bedside. It's a great option for a mom who is recovering from a c-section because you can easily pull baby bedside co sleeper out towards you for night feeds or nappy changes without needing to get out of bed. The most comfortable cribs have mesh sides that allow you to see your baby through.

Some cribs lower the barrier completely, allowing the option of sleeping together without the risk (check that the crib you choose is compliant with the latest safety standards however). Some cribs allow you to lower the barrier, but pop it up again after you have lifted the baby out. This is better for parents with concerns about their child's ability to roll off their mattress.

The Luah, which won the Mother&Baby Awards for the Best Cot or Moses Basket in 2021, is designed to clip on to bedsteads and divans but requires longer straps (check your specifications to be sure that your bed can be accommodated). The spacious design features an opening side panel, a perforated bottom with a patented design that provides air cushioning to increase air flow. There's also an integrated set-up for reflux and an swivel that can be 360 degrees to allow you to rotate the crib to suit your baby's preferred position.

If you are looking for something smaller, Tutti Bambini CoZee offers oak legs that come with a range of fabric options that will match your decor. It's also easy to assemble. Georgina who took part in the MFM test was able to put it together quickly, without requiring any instructions. It's also a fantastic travel cot. It folds flat and can be easily stuffed into bags.

The Next2me Magic, which was shortlisted for the Best Cot, Crib or Moses Basket at the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards, is also somewhat larger, but is still relatively small and easy to put into your bed. Georgina also found it easy to put together, though she felt the instructions could have been clearer about the zips.

Easy to clean

When you're looking at travel cots and bedside cribs be sure to look for models that have a removable mattress cover that is machine-washable. This will keep it clean and free of spills, spills, and leaky diapers. You should also choose one that is easily disassembled to allow you to clean and sanitise all the nooks.

This is vital, as it's the best way to make sure that all dirt and germs have been removed. Check that the sides of the crib are secure to ensure that your baby won't fall off or be trapped.

Apart from being easy to clean, you'll also want a bedside crib that is a comfortable place for your baby and is compatible with your own bed. This is especially important if you are using a bedside crib for co-sleeping. These cribs are designed to be tethered securely to the parent's side, which gives parents easy access to their child during the night to feed and comfort them while maintaining the security that separate sleeping areas provide.

Another thing to consider when selecting a crib for your bed is if it comes with extra features you might find useful. Some cribs can tilt or rock, which is great for babies who are a bit fussy.

You'll want to make sure that your crib or travel bed has a flat, firm mattress that fits snugly into the frame. This will lower the risk of SIDS because your baby's head and feet will not fall into gaps or folds in the bedding.

It's a good idea to purchase a new mattress for your crib or travel cot, rather than using one that was used previously or purchased second-hand. Mattresses that have been used are more susceptible to losing their shape with time, increasing the risk for SIDS. All new cribs must meet BS EN 1130:2019, the latest standard that imposes stricter requirements for safe and effective sleep solutions.

Multi-faceted

The bedside cot used crib, or co-sleeping mattress as it's sometimes called it is attached to the bed so that you can access your baby easily at night without having to leave your sleeping space. They can also be used as a separate crib during the day. They usually come with a side panel that can be lowered to allow you to feel your baby's hand and see the baby. Some cribs let you put the side panel down at night. This allows you to be close and convenient with your baby while minimising the risk of sharing a bed. Some cribs can also be transformed into a travel cot. Others have additional features like tilting, rocking bedside crib or converting into a larger crib for babies.

The SnuzPod 4 crib is popular for many reasons, and not just due to its sleek, modern design. This model comes with six height adjustments, and a handy storage shelf. It's also a little larger and heavier than some of our more travel-friendly cribs, but it comes in a handy bag to keep it dust-free and clean when it's stored.

The instructions are easy to follow and there is a handy toolkit that can be used to help you. It's also simple to clean thanks to an easy-to-clean mattress cover and air-tight fabric. It also comes with a few amenities than other cribs we've used with, like an anti-reflux incline as well as a rocking function and a storage pocket.

Jasmin says that this crib is wonderful because it's "easy to reach the baby during the night for a peaceful feeding, and it's larger than other Moses Baskets, which means it will last a longer period of time before my son grows out". She also likes that it's easy to clean and feels sturdy and well-made. It can be set on a divan, making it an ideal choice for those with a little space. Additionally, it comes with an easy-to-carry bag that you can carry around when traveling. A perfect all-rounder.
