Item upgrades provide players with the ability to upgrade equipment that they already have. This can be done at any item upgrader NPC.
Generally upgrades increase an items main stat and give it extras depending on the item type. Examples include Whistan’s shield for FB Sorcs, and Goldwraps for build casters.
Armour
Armour is among the most important factors that keep Link protected from damage in all situations. Although it cannot be upgraded like weapons, you can improve its defence capabilities in a variety of ways.
The fundamental idea behind armour is to protect animals or people from physical harm or injury, either from direct physical assault or from various dangers posed by the environment and activities. Historically, armour was mostly made of leather or fabric, but later metal protections were used as well, especially in military applications like heavy cavalry or combat drones.
Like weapons there are a myriad of ways that armor can be upgraded, however, most of them will require a visit to one of the four Great Fairy Fountains located throughout Hyrule. Each fountain has a unique degree of upgrades available and more will provide higher levels of protection, but needing a higher amount of rupees and other materials to unlock.
The first thing to note about Armor Upgrades is they are permanent upgrades which means that once they've been applied they are not able to be replaced unless there is another piece of equipment that has the same upgrade. It is crucial to only apply the highest level of upgrades to your gear and that you have the necessary materials to complete the process.
You can find the upgrades you require in a variety of locations throughout Hyrule. These include merchants, shrines and even enemies. They are typically marked by an orange triangle or a gold circle symbol. They are found in huge quantities as you progress through. They can appear randomly, but there is a chance that getting certain upgrades can trigger a quest that will reward you with even more.
It is important to remember that, even though the level provided by each upgrade may vary however, it will always be greater than nothing. This is because a full set of upgraded armor will provide you with a substantial defense boost that protects you from all forms of attacks except magic, making it a powerful weapon for any class.
Weapons
If you want to make your guns truly unique, you can upgrade them with a variety upgrades. They can increase the damage, alter the weapon's stats to cater to your specific build or even unlock new attachments, such as unique ammo types, enchantments, and aesthetic options.
To upgrade a weapon, you'll need to have an upgrade component ready and the item. The weapon must be at or near a certain level to upgrade it. Most weapons only take one upgrade.
Weapon upgrade components can be found all over the world, from a variety of sources, including merchants or enemies. The upgrade components themselves are made up of ingredients that can be put into weapons, armor trinkets, trinkets, or gathering tools to give an attribute bonus or other impact while they're being used. The equipment has to be of a certain level before it can accept the upgrade. It is able to be upgraded in the same way as other items.
Upgrades are a combination of Smithing Stones (a type of stone) and Runes. They are used to enhance the stats of weapons and enhance their ability to scale with other stats. These upgrades are available from enemies in the open or from merchants. They are also dropped through combat.

Prioritize upgrading your most-used slot items first. Then upgrade those that you're not likely to replace in the near future. Upgrade your weapon first, then upgrade your shoulders, chest hands, feet, and hands when you are planning to play in a melee-based build. The same principle applies to Magic and Utility Items. However, based on your playstyle, some items will be more beneficial than others. Armour is no different, with some reforges better than others.
Magic Items
A character is able to upgrade only one magic item upgrade. If an upgrade project is cancelled, any subsequent upgrades for that item level upgrade will not begin. Upgraded magic items cost twice as much gold to create or purchase, but they can offer additional benefits.
A magical item upgrade can be any item that has special properties or effects. Most of these items are weapons, but some include armor, shields, cloaks, potions, rings, scrolls, and other items. Some of these items have a sense of being.
Most magic items can have their abilities enhanced. This can make them more useful to players, or can aid them in overcoming a particularly challenging encounter. An infused weapon might provide bonus damage against a particular kind of enemy, for example. This is especially beneficial for characters who have reached the point where they are likely to face a single type of monster in the dungeons.
A ring that is infused with magic may provide immunity to nonmagical attacks that bludgeon or pierce or cut (excluding silvered attacks) until the character gets another long rest. This is particularly beneficial for combatants who are melee or anyone who wants to stay clear of buying a shield.

These can be particularly useful for characters who have had to leave their homes, or who are in a place where they may not be welcomed. A magical item could provide them with invisibility or make them invisible to anyone, excluding the person they choose to.
Utility Items
Utility items are products that do not fall under the categories of Armor, Clothing or Weapons and offer a range of different capabilities. They are not compatible with each other, as opposed to Armor or Weapons. The majority of utility items have a passive effect that players can activate while using them. However, some of them have additional abilities that are activated by pressing a button or activating the skill.
The Flashlight is the most commonly used accessory. It lights up the area around it. Other items that are useful include the Helicopter Cap and Rocket Boots which allow the player float in mid-air while moving, and the Jetpack that allows the player to accelerate in all directions while on the ground. Several utility items can be instantly created in the Engineering section while others can be unlocked through research projects or experimental projects in the Proving Ground.
Players can unlock more powerful utility items in addition to those available in their regular inventory by purchasing them at the Atomic Shop or from seasonal Scoreboard rewards. Certain of these items can be upgraded to allow more effective use.
The majority of utility items provide the player with an advantage in navigation or enhance the ability to fight. Sharpening stones, crafted by a Weaponsmith can boost power and Ferocity while Maintenance Oils, created by a Huntsman, increase Concentration and healing power. Other useful items such as Writs or Theses made by the Scribe can be used to give the player either a boost in damage or condition damage.
All XCOM soldiers can be equipped with a utility item at the beginning of the campaign, and an additional slot can be obtained through the use of certain types armor or completing engineering research or experimental projects in the Proving Ground. During the Alien Hunters DLC, additional slots are added by equipping the Grenade Launcher which allows the player to equip a Smoke Grenade or Bomb in another grenade slot. an offensive grenade is equipped in the main slot for grenades.
