World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. They also increase bonuses, such as damage from PvE and crit chance.
For instance a weapon that has the upgrade template that ends in % will gain an attack damage of 3% each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).
Item upgrading costs crests and the current level of the item. The cost rises with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, armor, and weapons in order to give them a stat boost or an extra effect. These can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors trading or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can only be applied to equipment with a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to blue before the component can be used. In contrast to other mods components can only be used one time; they can't be used multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are kind of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascending equipment, as as some non-ascended items. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade could be prefixed or a suffix that alters the name of the equipment to which it is used (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia" becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, allowing players create stronger versions with fewer upgrade crystals than they require to reach the same level with normal methods.
A 'boost' upgrade can change the attack or defense attributes of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades are available to be made using the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed mechanic. They can also be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or purchasing them from the cash store for 500 upgrade crystals each.
Each upgrade increases the probability that a higher-tier version of an item will be available during the next reset. This gives players the opportunity to upgrade their gear even when they're not sure how much it will be improved following an update.
The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process can be expensive, and there is a substantial chance that the item upgrader kit could be obsolete or even break if it fails; a unsuccessful upgrade could destroy the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item level upgrade. This is reduced by the availability of cash shop items to double or even eliminate the chances of failure, and some upgrades that provide an additional benefit when they are inserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade components that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, which includes any existing attaches. Glyphs can be upgraded many ways, and we recommend getting them up to level 15 as soon as possible.
It is commonplace to see in the final game that placing Glyphs is a great method to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded up to level 15 and give a significant boost to your power on the Paragon Board.
The majority of upgrades in the game can be replaced, however Glyphs are the one upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires an Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you choose it in your inventory. You can decide to replace it with another Glyph with the same rank, or a higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the Glyph.
You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of an Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use, and through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are some rare glyphs you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
After you have acquired the desired Glyphs you'll need them to be placed on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that boosts a specific set of stat nodes within a radius around the Glyph. Based on the Glyph the bonus will be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
Glyphs boost all nodes that are connected to them, therefore it is best to place Glyphs in the most important places on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. Druids, for instance should put their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may also want to consider placing them near their most critical damage nodes.
Leveling
The item upgrading system allows players to increase the effectiveness of certain items by placing upgraded components inside them. This is also known as "upping". Each upgradeable item comes with an amount that determines its upgraded stats. Upgraded items are able to be leveled up to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires a different amount of components to reach and the cost of upgrading increase as the item gets leveled up.
Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or found on the upgrade tab in crafting tables. Each Upgrade Recipe completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used to upgrading an item. When enough points have been earned you will be eligible to claim the upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.
When a player upgrades the equipment they have it will be replaced with the new item. This means that the same armor piece will get the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item also comes with its own set bonus. This could be a drawback in that it could make the item more expensive if you do not need it.
If the player has enough tokens, they can roll the upgrade of their item upgrader kit. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a brand new one, with an initial level and a completely different set of bonus bonuses. This can be useful for some items, but it's not something that should be done regularly, as it could waste a lot of resources.
Certain upgrades can increase their value and allow players to personalize their gear. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player repeatedly enters and exits water (or is able to swim like a dolphin). This item can be upgraded multiple times by increasing the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item can be extremely valuable in PvP, as an item that is properly rolled it can be worth between 20 and 50x its non-upp'd value.
Requirements
Item upgrading allows players to boost the level of their equippable equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by presenting the appropriate items and currency to an NPC that upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase the base defense of that piece, while upgrading weapon items will increase the base damage and the strength and dexterity required to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.
All items can be upgraded up to five times except for hero equipment, which can be upgraded eight times. Each time you upgrade an object it is at risk of failing. The probability of failure increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures can cause the item to go back to its original state, requiring the player to pay more for materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the maximum amount of upgrades.
If an item does not upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. In addition the item will lose any bonuses it gained, including crit chance and attack damage, as well as all additional effects associated with the effect (for instance, a higher healing over time or the speed of reloading). The player will be able to use their weapon or armor after the failure.
When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it increases its crit chance that it will be applied before any attack damage increases. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the item's definition and the value is recomputed every time an upgrade is made.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item are dependent on its rarity score and the number of upgrade slots. The upgrade cost for non-premium products is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for example, a common equipment item may have five upgrades with a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will have a much lower cost for each upgrade items.
Premium items could have different upgrade requirements from normal equipment. For example, they may need less sowels, but they will require more minerals and orons. Players will still have to take every piece of gear they wish to upgrade to NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. In addition to the upgrade costs mentioned above, each upgrade will require the use of different upgrade ingredients.
