WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.
The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item upgrades is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less useful for those with lower requirements due to the need to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of armor or weapon. However, the item used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.
The upgrader is located in all major cities and is accessible at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up to date.
Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item level upgrade [trade-britanica.Trade], but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are functional items which can be used to upgrade weapons, tools, armor, and other items. They are purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will show the preview of an item's next upgrade level, in the event that there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.
A lot of locations offer upgraders for items which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon as well as the chance to obtain a new recipe. The upgrade discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead the NPCs that can be used to upgrade must be acquired through a variety of means that are both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3 the upgrade system was altered a bit, with several new features added. Once a player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This applies even if those items are from another set of equipment.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is account-wide. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW players have a variety of options. Flightstones are an item that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be used on equipment that is of a particular rank, and every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complicated can require as much as 20 crests, based on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, which involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons of any difficulty for higher-tier items or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses to obtain endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.
The use of these currencies isn't that difficult, but the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. Once a piece of gear attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
Another notable change is that crests only have one use therefore it's essential to make use of them in a responsible manner. It is recommended to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear you can locate and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly true for items like trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to take advantage of the account-wide discount when all slots are filled with top-quality gear.
