Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The stats of an item are improved by upgrading it, which is also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment provides an increase in linearity of any stat.

Upgrade components

Upgradable items can be found all over the game, both within the world and as rewards for missions. Players can also make them. Upgrade components are the most common method to upgrade equipment. These are items that can be inserted into equipment. Most equipment has upgrade slots, and many require a certain level of upgrade. Certain upgrade components offer specific bonuses, while others offer general bonuses.
There are many types of upgrade elements in the game, such as universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gemstones and enchantments, can be put on any type of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrades for specific equipment. Glyphs can only be found in gathering tools. They offer a range of bonuses, ranging from boosting the speed at which an item gathers to providing extra crafting material.
To upgrade an Best item upgrader, click it from your inventory and open the Upgrade window. The preview will be displayed on the right hand side of the screen. It will show the expected stats following the upgrade. If you don't possess enough of either the upgrade button will show as Blocked.
The number of upgrade components required for a specific item is displayed in the upper-right corner of the window for upgrading. The cost of an upgrade increases with the level of the upgrade and its rarity, but it can be reduced through a variety of ways, such as purchasing upgrades from a retailer or trading them to other players.
Most weapons can be upgraded by the use of a prefix upgrade, such as an insignia, or a rune. Many are upgraded by a suffix upgrade. These upgrades include an adjective in the item's name for example "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to convey information via visuals. They are animated to grab the viewer's attention and spur curiosity in the brain. The animation of glyphs resembles the body language, making them more effective in communicating a linguistic barrier-crossing message. Glyphs can also trigger a feeling of familiarity in the brain, which increases retention of the message.
Each glyph has a set of values that it can increase a stat's value, as shown on the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use it to enchant an Artifact. This isn't the exact amount at which the glyph will increase a stat, but the maximum value by which it is able to do so. The value of the glyph will depend on the tier as well as the quality of the product you are enchanting.
The majority of upgrade components installed into items cannot be removed or replaced without dismantling them, with the exception of legendary upgrades and equipment. If you have a glyph or rune you don't want to use, but it hasn't been incorporated to gear yet, you can move the item to a different piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu on the Glyphs Panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the chosen glyph.
If you are looking to remove a glyph from an item then you'll need to salvage it with the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item where the glyph is located will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be salvaged using the glyph shards.
If you take an item off after adding a glyph, the shards from that glyph will disappear. You can also place an inscription on your equipment to make it more valuable. Deferred Damage, for example, can store damage and be distributed slowly to the wearer instead of all at once. This is helpful for those who take a lot of damage from enemies but don't want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens can be used to change the affixes of weapons and other equipment. They can be obtained from a variety of sources, such as mysterious boxes or rare drops from skulled monsters, or by killing bosses. Each reroll gives the player an unspecified affix, which is typically better than what they had prior to. Reroll tokens can also be used to upgrade weapon stats to cause more damage or bonuses.
Rerolled items don't appear in the menu of upgrade options, however they can still be upgraded. By pressing the "upgrade button" you can recycle these rerolled items. This will change the design of the item's window and let up to six items to be selected for recycling. The gauge of level is increased by recycling an Best item upgrade. The amount is determined by the item's rarity and its level, therefore higher-level items are more useful to recycle than lower-level ones.
Players can also make use of Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to reroll Weapon Traits to upgrade units. A reroll will roll the % chance of a particular weapon trait. If it is higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it rolls lower, it remains the same. Weapons can be upgraded up to 3 times.

The reroll system has been criticized by players for being expensive and it's more equitable to let players pay for it using money or food items that would allow them to change their builds without a lot of time and energy. However, paid rerolls are not something the developers are planning to implement at this point in the game's development. Instead, they're planning to include a race change potion in the future.
Leveling
There are a variety of ways to level up an upgrade to an item. The first is to increase the upgrade amount which boosts the value of upgrading a given stat. The second is to increase the effect of upgrading which increases the healing or damage of a given stat. The base item can be upgraded to an advanced upgrade type. The upgraded Best item upgrader will maintain its iLevel, but will be upgraded to reflect the effects of the upgraded item.
It is crucial to keep in mind that upgrades are random. Most of the time, a higher roll is determined by glyphs. However, there are times when a greater or special roll may occur. Additionally the iLevel of the upgrade will be determined by the item type, so should you upgrade a unique or rare item to a unique type it has a chance to achieve a higher iLevel.
The cost of upgrading items can be expensive, particularly if you're upgrading a piece of equipment from a standard to legendary track. The cost of upgrading a piece of equipment will depend on the base iLevel and the number of upgrade levels. The iLevel will also change in accordance with the item's upgrade path and its base level. For example an item that has been upgraded from being a rare or unique Best item upgrade to an exceptional one is likely to gain the Enhanced Defense of the new base item upgrader kit.
