World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of armors, weapons and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like Crit chance and PvE Damage.
If the template for upgrading a weapon ends in %, it will be able to gain 3percent of its previous damage for each time it is upgraded.
The cost of upgrading an item increases as it reaches the current level of the item. The cost increases as the item level increases.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons, and trinkets to provide a stat bonus or extra impact while they're being used. These can be obtained by making crafts, buying from vendors, trading with other players, or looting. Certain upgrades also come with special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot for them; the item must have been at a minimum upgraded to blue level for a component to be inserted. In contrast to other mods components can only be used one time; they cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a particular kind of upgrade component used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the back items that are not ascending. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item upgrade it is applied to (for instance, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' is changed to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players create stronger versions of that equipment using the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than are required to reach the same level of upgrade using normal methods.
A boost upgrade is a way to alter the attack or defense attributes of a weapon or armor. These upgrades can be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them from the cash shop, or by collecting them from enemies when upgrading other gear.
Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher tier version of an item will be dropped in the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue improving their equipment even if they're uncertain of how much it will increase after a future reset.
The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process may be costly and there is a significant chance that the item could be obsolete or even break if it fails; a failure to upgrade can destroy Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items that increase or even eliminate the chances of failure, and a few upgrades that give the benefit of being reinserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade components that can be inserted into special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs increase the power of nodes within a radius, and include any existing affixes. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We recommend upgrading them as fast as possible up to 15 levels.
You'll often see in the final game that placing Glyphs is the best way to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded straight to level 15 and provide significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes more quickly.
Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced however Glyphs are the one upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires an Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.
Each Glyph has a certain range of values that it can improve a statistic by. The value is displayed when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph of the same rank or higher rank, which will increase the value of the Glyph.
There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use and also through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt has a chance to drop one of the numerous Glyphs and there are also a few rare glyphs that can be found as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have the desired Glyphs then you have to put them on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus which will boost a specific set of stat nodes that are within the radius of the Glyph. Based on the Glyph the bonus will be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
The use of the Glyph will boost all nodes that are linked to it, and you should aim to place your Glyphs near the most important nodes of the Graph to maximise the impact. For example an Druid should try to position their Glyphs near their primary damage nodes, however, you may also want to consider placing them near critical damage nodes, too.
Leveling
The upgrade system for items allows players to increase the power of certain items by inserting upgraded components. This is referred to as "upping". Every upgradeable item has an amount that determines its upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum of 385. Each item level requires a different amount of components to be reached and the costs for upgrading increase as the item is upgraded.
Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained from the completion of Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade tab of the crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns some Technology Points. These points can be used to the upgrading of an item. When enough points have been earned you'll be able to claim your upgrade and get its extra bonuses.
When the player improves a piece of equipment it will be replaced with an item that is new. This means that the same piece of armor will be transformed into the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item will also have a unique bonus. This could be a drawback in that the item could become more expensive even if you do not require it.
Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, if the player has enough tokens in order to do this. This causes the item to be exchanged for a new one, which will have a level 1 base and a different set of extra bonuses. This is a good idea but it shouldn't be done often as it can be a waste of resources.
Certain upgrades can boost their value, allowing players to customize their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it gives buffs when the player repeatedly enters or exits the water. The item level upgrade can be upgraded several times and increases the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item can be extremely valuable in PvP as a perfectly rolled version of it could be worth between 20 and 50x its value if it is not upgraded.
Requirements
The ability to upgrade items allows players to upgrade the level of their available equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by offering the appropriate items and currencies to an NPC that upgrades items. Upgrading armor set pieces will also increase the base defense of that piece, while upgrading weapon items will increase the damage base as well as the required strength and dexterity to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.
Each item can be upgraded up to five times except for hero equipment, which is able to be upgraded eight times. Each when you upgrade an item it has an opportunity to fail. The failure rate increases the farther you go over the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures can result in the item reverting to its initial state, requiring the player to pay more for materials than they would have to had they stopped upgrading at the maximum amount of upgrades.
If an item does not upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Additionally, the item will lose any gained bonuses, including crit chance and attack damage, as well as any other effects that are associated with that effect (for instance, a higher healing over time or speed of reload). The player will be able to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.
When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that, when a weapon gains an increase in crit chance, the increase is applied prior to any increase in attack damage. Slots is a new attribute that has been added to item definitions. The value is calculated every time an upgrade occurs.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating and the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading equipment that is not premium is equal to its base value. For example an item of common use could have five upgrades at a cost of. 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items are less expensive per upgrade.
Premium items have different upgrade requirements as compared to standard equipment, for instance, they might require fewer sowels, but they will require more minerals and erons. Whatever the case, players must visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs listed above, each upgrade will require the use of different ingredients for upgrading.
