Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and gear with new affixes, increasing its stats base or providing additional benefits. To upgrade an item, a player has to have it in their inventory, as well as access to the kiln.
Items with weak bases, like rings, can be upgraded into a stronger base. Items with bases that are strong, such as Titans from eth, have no change in their stats.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons and gathering tools. They can be used as an attribute bonus or an additional benefit, while the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, found in loot, dropped by enemies or as rewards from missions or chests. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.
In order to upgrade the quality of a weapon or piece armor, the user must choose it and click on the Upgrade button located in the toolbar. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen that shows what the expected upgrade statistics will be and also the element or material required for the upgrade to take place.
There are three types of universal upgrades (which include gems), prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrade item components. Universal upgrades, like gems, are able to be placed on any type of equipment. They offer a lower bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type limitation. Infusions, which can only be placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are exactly the same as jewels but have higher bonuses and cannot be used in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades are able to be placed in gathering tools, include their name at the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for example adding the word Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would make it a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the case of upgrades to gather tools when a player swaps one glyph with a different one, the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component the item will be destroyed, with the exception for the inscriptions, which are able to be swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important differences from previous versions. Gear is now divided into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a specific number of times before they are "leveled out." The cost for upgrades increases with each level, but the required materials aren't as high. This allows players to focus their efforts on a couple of key items and maximize their impact rather than spreading out the upgrade costs across several pieces.
This will enable the item upgrade to receive new upgrade components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is called the Artisan's Energy. It will reset to 0 if an upgrade fails or increases when the upgrade succeeds.
After a piece has been upgraded to its maximum level, it is able to get the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the item's base type. For instance, a rare or unique weapon that has a standard base will have only two affixes to choose from, whereas a legendary armor will have up to eight affixes for it.
Each upgrade will require an amount of Flightstones and crests depending on the item's current level and the slot it's in. In general, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.
If an item doesn't attain its maximum level, the NPC grants the player the choice to transfer it to a different character and re-infuse the item with a different set or upgrades. The process can take as long as two hours and will cost the same amount of material but will result in less chance of success.
Engineers employ a level to compare the height of the building with a known point, such as a benchmark. This process is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to a high level of accuracy and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of changing an item's upgrade components. It is a crucial part of the game and can improve an item upgrader kit's damage, strength or other attributes. This can be done via the menu for items or by clicking the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling can be costly and should only be done in rare cases.
Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item upgrader kit or another similar item. Recyclable items come with an indicator of the level which shows how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The rarity and cost of upgrading an item upgrader will determine the amount of level that has been filled.
Prior to this, certain upgrades were given priority affixes which made them easier to roll. This meant that you'd get the stats most important to your build more frequently than others. This included things like the armor's total armor, thorns and control impaired duration reduction stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This was changed in the latest patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chance of rolling for every stat. This can be good or bad, depending on what you want and need from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can be equipped with a special bonus that boosts the power of the item by a set percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are rolled over the usual affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the higher the chance of receiving the bonus of your choice.
The game also comes with number set that grants the player a bonus if three or four upgraded items from the set are equipped on a unit. This is a great way to add a lot of power to a particular character without spending lots of money.
Many players reroll their weapons and gear, especially in the early stages. This is because rerolling can give players a faster route to becoming a strong character which allows them to achieve higher levels and advance in the game faster.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be organized differently. They can have various sizes, contain none at all, or contain a single element. They can be used to organize data or to sort information. They also aid in analysing patterns. Sets can be classified in various ways in terms of size and shape.
There are a variety of set items that can be upgraded in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some are worth upgrading, while some are not. Armor sets that provide high defense values or set bonuses are typically worth upgrading. Upgrades to weapons aren't as effective in boosting stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if your collection of armor and weapons pieces is already extensive.
Set items can be upgraded to include special procs that are useful for certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are two examples of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement increased as well).
Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them into the same level as their counterparts in their tiers. For instance, the Immortal King set has a wide range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. Upgrades to lower level items can enhance their defense, and make them more competitive in terms of damage.
To see if an item is worth upgrading, players should click the Upgrade button in the screen of their character. This will display the item's features, as well as the necessary items required to upgrade it. For instance the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also look up the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
In general, armor and weapons have higher value when they are fully updated. Particularly, for weapons that feature damage glyphs that are spell-like or weapon-related upgrading them to gold is recommended since it will give a substantial increase in their power. It will also boost the defense value of armor that has an updated look.
