What is an Item Upgrader in Pokemon Go?

It's a convenient method to increase the quality of your equipment, which lets you to avoid the tedious grind and avoid the countless wipes in Mythic+ Dungeons.

When an item is upgraded the type of item it is going to change. Upgrades to a normal item produce an Exceptional variant, while upgrades to an Exceptional version make an Elite. The item will keep the stats it had prior to upgrading, and will gain an extra bonus from its new base type. This bonus is randomly selected. It could be a weapon that has more damage range, a faster speed of reloading, or an increased max defense roll.

The amount of extras you can get when upgrading depends on the number of upgrades done. Each upgrade will increase the number of extras by up to 3 points. Additionally, each upgrade will also boost the stat that is used to determine the main one by +1.

In addition to the stat increases, some upgrades will also provide a random boost. These secondary boosts can be extremely valuable and should be considered when deciding on which items to upgrade. Certain boosts can only be used in certain designs (such the Whistan's Shield, which is for FB Sorcs), while others are beneficial to collectors.

Certain items come with inherent boo, which is not effective when upgraded, for example the Goldwrap which gives more slots for potion. These are often upp'd to add value to a perfect or near-perfect item.

Costs

There are some costs associated with item upgrades. The first cost is the upgrade itself. This cost depends on the new ilvl of the item and the amount of perks it receives and can be costly. It can also be costly to upgrade an item to a better tier (such as Explorer > Champion, or Veteran > Heroic).

The other is the cost of materials needed for an upgrade. The items used are typically either Power Dices (dropped by monsters 21and up) or Minerals and Erons (obtainable by completing specific Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor quests). The amount of these materials required is available in the inventory of an upgrade vendor.

It takes time to upgrade an item. Based on the magnitude of the upgrade, it can take anywhere from 8 to 12 hours. The stats that are the base of the upgraded item are calculated based on its new ilvl and other properties. This calculation determines the updated Armor Class bonus, damage dice, and other crucial stats. In some instances, the upgrade will grant additional benefits that can be chosen from a list of available perks.

In rare instances the upgrade will replace only the highest-costing perks. Occasionally, the upgrader will make other changes to an item, such as changing the type of weapon damage or or removing an operative or unwieldy property. The cost for these changes is determined by the item's current ilvl and may require a special substance like the adamantine alloy.

Success Rate

The process of upgrading an item is dependent on the chance. Like any random system, there is a possibility that it won't succeed. There are a number of ways to increase the chances of success. This includes the use of an item called an Upgrade Pity, or the addition of extra components to the upgrade.

The Upgrade Pity is available from the NPC for crafting in Lost Ark. It increases the chances of an upgrade's success by some percentage. It's similar to the "luck bonus" that some items provide, but it is more solid. It can be added to any weapon or armor and can be used up to three times.

You can also add other materials to the upgrade to increase its chances of success. These are displayed in a separate window, above the + button. However, there are some limitations to this, and the maximum amount of material that can be added is displayed right above the + button in the user interface.

Another way to increase the chances of an upgrade achieving success is by using an item called a Blacksmith Blessing or an upgraded version of it. This item is useful if you have a weapon or piece of equipment that has reached the highest level for its tier, or is close to it. This item will allow you upgrade the equipment to the next tier without the risk of breaking.

If an upgrade is unsuccessful it will be returned to its original state. This is typically an upgrade, but it could also be an upgrade. Save an upgrade until you reach the highest level for an item.

You can also opt for an item that is protected by a safeguard your product in the event of failure. This protection is not free however, it will cost less than the cost of a new item upgrading. The protection can only be used one time per upgrade and will last until it is used again.

The UI for the item upgrader can be somewhat confusing, but it's not difficult to navigate. The main menu is visible on the left and the upgrade window is on the right.
