The item will keep its pre-upgrade stats, and will gain an extra bonus from its new base type. This bonus is randomly selected. It could be a weapon that has a greater damage range, an improved speed of reloading, or increased defense roll.

The amount of upgrades you perform will determine the amount of extras you receive. Each upgrade boosts the corresponding extras by an increment of 1, up to a maximum of three. In addition, each upgrade will also increase the main stat by +1.

Costs

There are a few expenses that are associated with upgrades to items. The most significant cost is the upgrade itself. The second is the price of the items required for an upgrade. The items used are usually either Power Dices (dropped by monsters 21and up) or Minerals and Erons (obtainable by completing specific Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor quests). The stats that are the base of the upgraded item are calculated based upon its new ilvl as well as other properties. This calculation determines the updated Armor Class bonus, damage dice, and other important stats. In some cases the upgrade will provide additional advantages that can be picked from a list of available advantages.

In rare instances, the upgrade will only replace the highest-costing bonuses. Sometimes, the upgrader will make other adjustments to an item, such as changing the damage type of a weapon or or removing an operative or unwieldy property. The cost for these modifications is based on the item upgrades's current ilvl and it could require a special substance like an adamantine alloy.

Success Rate
