Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
Item upgrade, commonly known as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment results in a linear increase in a given stat.
Players can recycle six items at once to gain a gauge for the upgraded component of each item. The cost of recycling an item scales with its rarity and level.
Upgrade components
A level upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can increase the power of your weapon and armor. This can be accomplished by a number of means such as using upgrade components as well as upgrading an item's mark levels or rarity. Glyphs

Each glyph can increase the value of a stat by a specific amount. This is shown on the Best item upgrade when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This isn't the actual amount by which glyphs can improve a stat, but the maximum amount it is able to do so. The value of the glyph is contingent on the tier as well as the quality of the item that you are enchanting.
Most upgrade item components slotted into items are not able to be replaced or salvaged without dismantling the equipment in question, except for legendary equipment and upgrades. If, however, you have a non-useful rune or glyph that has not yet been added to your equipment, you can transfer it to a different piece equipment by using the Upgrade Glyphs context menu on the Glyphs panel. You can take out any glyph with the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item will be destroyed that it was installed in, but you can recover the upgraded item by using the glyph and its shards, therefore it should not be considered as a loss.
If you take an item off after adding a glyph, the shards of that glyph will disappear. You can also put a glyph on your equipment to make it more valuable. For example, the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and then deal it out slowly instead of all at once. This is helpful for those who take a lot damage from enemies but don't want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens are used to alter the affixes on equipment and weapons. They can be obtained from a variety of sources, including mysterious boxes and rare drops from skulled monsters or by killing bosses. Each reroll token grants the player a new random affix, which is usually better than the original one. Reroll tokens are also a great way to reroll weapon stats and can be upgraded to provide better damage or additional perks.
Items that have been rerolled may not appear in the item upgrade menu, but they still qualify to receive upgrades. When you press the "upgrade button" you can recycle the recycled items. Players have complained that the reroll system is expensive. The developers do not plan to offer paid rerolls in this stage in the game's development. Instead, they plan to include a race change potion in the near future.
Leveling
There are a number of ways to level up an upgrade to an item level upgrade. The first way to level up an upgrade for an Best item upgrade is by increasing the upgrade amount. This boosts the value of an upgrade for a stat. The second is to boost the upgrade effect which increases the healing or damage of a given stat.
