Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to upgrade their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, boosting its base stats or adding additional perks. To upgrade items, the player must have the item upgrader mod in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Items with weak bases, like rings, can be upgraded into more robust bases. Items with strong bases, such as the Titans of eth have little changes in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They give you an attribute bonus, or additional effect, when the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, or found as loot by enemies, or obtained from missions and chests. Certain upgrades come with additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be above a certain level before they can be upgraded.

In order to upgrade the quality of a weapon or piece armor, the player must choose it and click on the Upgrade button located in the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade stats as well as the required component or materials.

There are three types of universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which include gems, can be placed in any kind of equipment, and offer lower bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment, are the same as jewels but provide larger bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, will include their name at the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for example adding a Glyph to a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would change it to a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the case of upgrades for gathering tools when a player swaps one glyph with a different one, the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, excluding inscriptions which can be freely swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system differs from previous versions in some key ways. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can only be upgraded a specific number of times before they're "leveled out." The upgrade costs increase with each level, but the materials required for upgrades do not. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a few items and maximize the effect of those items rather than spreading upgrade costs over multiple pieces.

When an item is completed and is leveled out, it will be eligible for an upgrade set of components, as well as an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy and it is reset to 0 in the event of failure, or increases when the upgrade item is successful.

Once a piece of gear is upgraded to its highest level it can be eligible to be given affixes that increase its features. The number of affixes that are available will depend on the type of item upgrader kit it is. For example an uncommon or exclusive weapon that has a standard base will have only two affixes, whereas a legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade requires an amount of Flightstones and crests to complete depending on the current level of the item and the slot it's in. Weapons usually require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item doesn't attain its maximum level, the NPC gives the player the option to transfer it to a new character and re-infuse the item upgrade with a new set or upgrades. This process can take between one and two hours and cost the same amount of material. However, it has a lower rate of success.

Engineers employ a level to measure the height of the building against an established point, such as the benchmark. This is referred to as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level and backsight rod, then turning the level to make the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to a high level of accuracy and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is a very important element of the game and can boost the damage, strength or other attributes. This can be accomplished through the item menu or by using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling items can be costly and should be handled with care.

Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item, or to upgrade another similar item. Recyclable items have an indicator that indicates the amount of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and upgrade cost of the item.

Prior to this, some upgrades were given priority affixes, which made them easier for players to roll. It meant that you'd get the stats most important to your build more frequently than others. This included stats like the armor's total armour, thorns and control impaired duration reduced stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and strike chance.

This has changed since the last patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling for each statistic. This can be a great or a negative thing dependent on your needs and wants from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can come with a unique fixed-value bonus that boosts its power by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added to the regular affixes. The more you improve an item, the better chances of obtaining the bonus of your choice.

The game also comes with number set that grants an extra bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are installed on an unit. This is a good way to give a character a lot more power without spending a lot of money.

Many players have the habit of rerolling their weapons and gear particularly in the initial stages. Rerolling is a way to gain a stronger character quicker, which enables players to advance in the game and reach higher tiers.

Sets

Sets are groups of elements that can be organized in a variety of ways. They can have various sizes, have none at all, or contain just one element. They can be used to organize data or separating information. They can also be useful in analysing patterns. Sets can be classified in many ways such as size and shape.

There are a variety of set items to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Certain items are worth upgrading while others aren't. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets that provide high defense values and set bonuses. However, upgrades to weapons typically do not improve the stats of the item when as compared to their purple counterparts. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already large.

Some set items are upgraded to meet their own unique functions which can be beneficial in certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are examples of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement were increased as well).

Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them into the same level as their counterparts in their tiers. For example the Immortal King set has a wide range of levels, ranging from 29 to 76. Upgrading lower-level set items can boost their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will display the attributes of the item as well as the items required to upgrade it. The attributes of the item will be displayed together with any required items. To upgrade the No-mouth face, for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also look up the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

Generally speaking the jewelry and weapons have better trade value when fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have spells or glyphs that damage weapons. This will bring about a significant improvement in their stats. The armor that has a new appearance will benefit from this upgrade because its defense will increase when it goes from purple to gold.
