World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and PvE Damage.
For example a weapon that has the upgrade template ending in % will gain 3% attack damage every time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with the item's level.
Components
Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, weapons and armor to give them a boost in stats or to add an additional effect. They can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors or trading with other players, or looting. Some upgrades also have special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment with a slot for them. The item must be at a minimum upgraded to blue level for a component to be inserted. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used one time; they cannot be applied repeatedly or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a special type of upgrade component that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment and some of the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging ascended gear or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, thereby changing the name of the item it is used on (for instance, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' is changed to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades can increase the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions of the item using the smallest amount of Upgrade crystals than they need to reach the same level using standard methods.
A boost upgrade is a way to alter the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades are available to be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them from the cash shop, or by getting them from enemies while upgrading other equipment.
Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher-tier version of an item will be dropped in the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue improving their equipment even if they're uncertain of how much it will improve after a future reset.
The process of upgrading an item could be costly and it is likely that the item will become obsolete or even break when the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when the upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the risk of failure. Certain upgrades also provide an additional bonus when they are reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade parts that can be inserted into special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs buff the effectiveness of all nodes in the area around them and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded various ways, and we recommend getting them to level 15 as soon as you can.
It is commonplace to see in the final game that placing Glyphs is the most effective method to upgrade your equipment. These are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded to level 15 and offer significant boosts to your power on the Paragon Board.
Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without restriction. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and replaced using a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
Each Glyph has a specific range of values it can improve a stat by, and the value is displayed when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.
You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of an Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use, and through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the many Glyphs, and there are some rare Glyphs that can be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
When you have the desired Glyphs You will have to attach them to your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus that boosts the stats of a particular set of nodes that are within the radius of the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
Utilizing a Glyph will boost all nodes connected to it, so you should aim to place your Glyphs near the most important nodes of the Graph to maximise the impact. Druids, for example, should place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They may be able to place them near their most critical damage nodes.
Leveling
The system of upgrading items lets players increase the effectiveness of certain items by placing upgraded components into them. This is commonly known as "upping". Each upgradeable item has a level which determines the final statistics. Upgraded items are able to be leveled up to a maximum of ilvl 385. Each level of item requires various components, and upgrade costs increase with each level.
Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient is obtained from completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or obtained from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used for upgrading an item. When enough points have been earned you'll be eligible to claim the upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.
When the player improves a piece of equipment, the base item will be replaced by an item that is new. This means that the same armor piece will get the form of a shield or weapon when upgraded. The new item also has its own bonus. This could be a drawback in that it could cause the item to become more expensive if you do not need it.
Upgrades to items can be rerolled, if the player has enough tokens to do so. This causes the item upgrades to be exchanged for a brand new one, which will have an initial level and a different set of bonuses. This can be beneficial but it should not be used frequently as it can be a waste of resources.
Some upgrades can be rerolled many times which increases their value and giving players the ability to alter their gear. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player is repeatedly in and out of the water (or does not swim as a dolphin). This item can be upgraded multiple times by increasing the maximum roll every time by 10 increments. This item is very important in PvP. A properly rolled version can be worth as much as 50x the value of the non-upgraded counterpart.
Requirements
The ability to upgrade items allows players to boost the level of their available equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets over ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate currency and items to an NPC who upgrades items. Upgrading armor set pieces will also increase the defense base of the Best item upgrade, and upgrading weapons will increase the damage base as well as the required strength and dexterity to meet the upgraded equipment's requirements.
Each item can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception of hero gear, which can be upgraded up to eight times. Every time you upgrade an object, it has a chance of failing. The probability of failure increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures will result in the item returning to its original state and the player having to pay for more resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.
If an item does not upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it gained like crit chance, attack damage, or additional effects (such as a higher healing rate over time, or reloading speed). The player is able to use their weapon or armor after the failure.
When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded receives a crit chance boost that it will be applied before any damage from attacks increases. A new attribute known as Slots has been added to the definition of the item and the value is calculated every time an upgrade is made.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an Best item upgrade is determined on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading equipment that is not premium is equal to the value of the base item upgrading. For instance an item that is commonplace could have five upgrades at a cost of. 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items will have a much lower cost for each additional upgrade.
Premium items could have different upgrade requirements from regular gear. For example, they may need less sowels, but they will require more minerals and orons. Whatever the case, players will need to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs listed above, each upgrade will require a different amount of the upgrade ingredients.
