WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give you boosts in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item level upgrade by 3. A random substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll to get a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enchantments.
The upgrader is located in all major cities, and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your equipment. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader each few weeks.
The cost of upgrading will be based on the current item level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear from other sources. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points purchasing a similar piece from another player will costs 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items which can be used to level up weapons and tools, armor and accessories. They can be bought by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display the item upgrade's next upgrade level, in the event that there are enough materials.
The upgrade cost depends on the item upgrade slot and the current item level, with weapons costing more than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currency types.
A lot of locations offer upgraders for items, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only accessible through a variety means. This is both a benefit as well as an issue.
In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. After an upgrade has been completed to a specific level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This is even if the items are from an entirely different set of equipment.
The amount of Valorstones required to upgrade is reduced and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is cut also, but is only available when certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
When it comes to upgrading gear in WoW players have a few options. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that crests are only available for equipment with a certain rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The most basic and straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the more complex one can require as much as 20 crests depending on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in all difficulty levels to obtain equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item upgrader mod in the proper steps and pathways.
Using these new currencies isn't that difficult however, the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrading for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to get their equipment to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
Another important modification is that crests have one purpose therefore it's essential to make use of them in a responsible manner. It is Best item upgrader to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the highest-quality gear that you can find and save Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially true for items like trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to take advantage of the account-wide discount when all slots are filled with high-quality gear.
