Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
Item upgrade, commonly referred to as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment boosts the stat linearly.
Players can recycle up to six items at a time to gain an indicator of the level of the item's upgraded components. The cost of recycling items scales depending on their rarity and level.
Upgrade components
In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade of an item can be a method to boost the stats of your weapon and armor. This can be done through a number of means such as using upgrade components as well as upgrading an item's mark levels or rarity. In addition to this, many items can be reforged to increase their stats.
Upgradeable items are available throughout the game, both within the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be crafted by players. Upgrade components are the main method to upgrade equipment. These are the items that can be inserted into equipment. Most equipment has slots that can be upgraded and some require a certain amount of upgrade. Certain upgrade components offer specific bonuses while others give a general bonus.
There are several types of upgrade elements in the game, such as universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gemstones and enchantments can be placed on any equipment and offer lower bonuses than upgrades for specific equipment. Glyphs are only available on gathering tools. They offer a variety of bonuses, from increasing the speed of an item's gathering to providing additional crafting materials.
Select the item in your inventory, and then open the Upgrade window. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected stats will be after the upgrade, along with any necessary components or materials. The Upgrade button at the bottom will show blocked if you don't have enough of or.
The upper-right corner shows the amount of upgrade components required to create an item. The cost of upgrading increases depending on the upgrade level and rarity, but can be reduced using various ways, such as purchasing upgrades from a vendor or trading them to other players.
Most weapons can be improved with a prefix, like a rune or an insignia. Some can be upgraded by adding an suffix. These upgrades alter the name of the item, adding an adjective, like "Radiant" or "Minor vigor.' The exceptions are the noninscribable wands, foci and shields from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, which cannot be upgraded with any kinds of mods.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be a powerful instrument for communicating visual information. They move to draw the attention of the viewer and entice curiosity. The glyphs' animation mimics body language, making them even more effective at conveying a message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs also improve the likelihood of remembering a message by evoking an emotional connection in the brain.
Each glyph has a set of values that it could improve a stat by, as shown on the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an artifact. This range is not the actual amount at which glyphs can improve the stat, but rather the maximum amount by which it is able to do so. The value of the glyph will depend on the tier as well as the quality of the item that you are in awe of.
The majority of upgrade components that are slotted into items are not able to be replaced or salvaged without dismantling the equipment in question, except for legendary equipment and upgrades. If you do have a rune or glyph that has not yet been applied to your equipment, you can transfer it to a different piece equipment by using the Upgrade Glyphs context menu on the Glyphs panel. This will create an Glyph Set that includes the selected glyph.
If you wish to remove the glyph from an item you must salvage it using the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. This will cause the item to be destroyed in which it is installed, but you can recover the upgraded item using the glyph and its fragments, therefore it should not be considered as a loss.
Adding a glyph to an item upgrader can cause it to become unstable and the shards that are left of that glyph will disappear from your inventory when you take it down. You can also add an inscription to your equipment to give it an extra benefit. Deferred Damage, for example can be used to store damage and then be dealt out slowly to the wearer instead of all at one time. This can be helpful for those who take a lot of damage from their enemies however do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens let players alter the affixes on their weapons and equipment, and they can be obtained in various ways such as in mistery boxes, as rare drops from skulled creatures, or by killing bosses. Each reroll token grants the player a brand new random affix that is usually superior to the one they had before. Reroll tokens can also be used to upgrade the weapon's stats to increase damage or bonuses.
Items that have been rerolled may not appear in the upgrade menu, however they are still eligible to receive upgrades. If you click the "upgrade button", you can recycle the recycled items. This will alter the design of the item's window and let up to six items be chosen to recycle. The gauge of level is increased by recycling an item. This amount is determined by the rarity of the item and its own level, so items with higher levels are more valuable to recycle than lower level ones.
In addition to tokens for rerolls, players can make use of Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to roll the traits of a weapon in an upgraded unit. A reroll will roll the % chance of a weapon trait. If it rolls higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it rolls lower, it remains the same. Weapons can be upgraded up to three times.
Rerolls are a good option to upgrade an item, but players should be aware that it can lower the overall ilvl of the weapon by the number of rerolls required to increase the weapon to its ultimate ilvl. This lowering effect is most effective with Diadems and ring items, which have no other options for raising ilvls.
The system of rerolls has been criticised by players as being too expensive and it's more equitable to let players pay for it using money or food items which would allow players to modify their builds without a lot of time and energy. However paying for rerolls is not something the developers want to implement at this time in the game's development. They're planning to include a potion that will allow players to alter their race in the near future.
Leveling
There are many ways to boost the value of an upgrade for an item upgrader. The first method of leveling up an upgrade for an item is by increasing the amount of upgrade. This increases the upgrade value for the stat. The second option is to increase the impact of the upgrade, which increases damage or healing for a stat. In addition you have the option to upgrade the base item upgrader to a higher upgrade type. The upgraded item will maintain its iLevel, but have the upgraded effects of the upgraded item.
When upgrading items, it is important to remember that upgrades aren't always planned. Most of the time, a higher roll is determined by glyphs. However, there are times where a higher or more special roll may occur. The item type will also determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a rare or exclusive item to a specific item type, it is likely to receiving an upper level.
The cost of upgrading items can be expensive, particularly when you're upgrading an item of gear from the normal to the legendary track. The price will depend on the item's base iLevel and the amount of upgrade levels it comes with. In addition, some upgrade tracks require crests to reach the next upgrade level.
If you're lucky, your upgraded item will be at the highest level on its upgrade track and gain a bonus effect. This will provide the item upgrades with a significant upgrade value. The bonus effect changes with each upgrade level. In general, the upgrade effect is increased a value of +3.
The iLevel also changes depending on the item's upgrade path and base level. For instance an item upgraded from being a rare or exclusive item upgrader kit to an extraordinary one will have the chance to gain the Enhanced Defense of the new base item.
